Mugshots

By
Real Estate Agent with HER Realtors

New photo on ActiveRain blogI have a new one...  new onesMugshots... plural I had to take a bunch because  I am not photogenic.

I have a new "do." Actually it is NOT that new. I have had short hair for about a month now... I need a hair cut.  That is why I like long hair... the style does not grow out.  Or the lack of style does not grow out.

Kinda.

A local blogger made fun of me a number of months ago for using my high school (or college?) picture on Twitter... It has not been that long... but I have not had the long hair in the photo since maybe 3 or 4 years ago but my hair was not short.    The "REALTOR® photo I have been using is about 7 years old.  I hate the idea of having to change it on all the online profiles everywhere.  I changed it here and Facebook....

Twitter I am still the old me.

I was talking to a friend I have not seen in about 4 years Maureen McCabe my old avatar the other night and he was asking "What's new?"  Just before I got off the phone I thought to mention ... after he told me he still looks 29... (I believe he is in his 40's.) I thought to mention that I am now a short dumpy lady...  luckily that does not show in mug shots.  Well in the photo called "lady wrestler with her eyes closed" it did..  I needed to put a shirt on... don't worry I was wearing a tank top but I had taken off the shirt I had on over when I started monkeying with getting an updated photo.  The magic of digital photography... I took a lot of pictures using my cell phone yesterday.

I have never been photogenic.

Why are my eyes closed in so many photos?  There is no a flash involved.  I always assumed my eyes are closed in 50% of photos because of flash.  Do I blink that much?

How do you take a "self portrait" without your shoulders getting all hunchy?  Lots of the photos my shirts shoulders are all hunched up because I am all contorted with my arm out... to get a photo.  I found it was better if I used my left hand to take the photo. Maybe today with the real camera?

Mugshots - I posted my third since I joined in August 2008.

Darn I was hoping I could do a slideshow on Mug Shots of horrible pictures of me from yesterday. I can't....

Daily Mugshot says:

"Only One Mugshot A Day!?!?"

"It looks like you already took your picture for the day (09:21AM US/Michigan)

Daily Mugshot is all about chronicling our lives by taking a single picture a day. Find out more at the FAQ.

Tomorrow will be here before you know it!"

MoInColumbusOHon mugshots I posted "lady wrestler with her eyes closed"  today... OK the mugshot is from  yesterday.  The "lady wrestler with her eyes closed" shot  was one of the first mugshots I took yesterday.  I was hoping I could show you a slideshow of all the horrible photos I took...

I am MoInColumbusOH on Daily Mugshots.

Well I like the new do, Maureen. And I understand the angst over photos - I feel the same. Don't like having my pic taken. Daily Mugshot would drive me batty.

Hi Maureen - wow, you do look a bit different than the twitter avatar you use.  I don't see anything wrong with that new picture, nothing at all!  And if that's what you look like now, everyone already knows that so go ahead and use today's picture.

I must say I'm inclined to agree with Steve Belt - I think those serve no purpose other than to humor the people taking their own pictures.  I see people post those on Twitter all the time, and the word 'ego' runs through my mind every time I see a new tweet about someone's 159th new mugshot.....  just my opinion on those.

Use your new picture - it looks fine to me!

Hi Maureen, You have made me smile today w/ your funny blog, I like your new & old avatar.

As someone who's eye close also when being photographed I understand your dilemma. A blog or two back I added a pair of sunglasses to my photo because I wanted to use a particular picture. Yep, it looked goofy but I was able to use the photo.

Jeff I don't see me putting up a daily photo personally.

Ann when I look straight in the mirror or in photos without touching up my make up I look more like "lady wrestler" but I always see me with my eyes open.

I don't see me putting up a daily photo.... and I think many have lost interest in it.

Cynthia I have dog eyes? My eye always had red eye in older flash photos.  I can't remember how long ago but one  photographer had to do a lot of  photos because my eyes do close just before the photo. I had a great photo in 1995.  When our websites first went up I had a horrible photo... clients would email or call to tell me how bad it was. I could probably look on the wayback machine and see if this is older than 7 years old.  I don't want it to be...

Great 'new-do'. Could I offer up an alternative to holding your arm out? Why not use a tripod? Or even set the camera on a counter/something about eye level?

And Ann, are you hating on my mug show?

Nick Goraczkowsk is YourMortgageResource.com and uses a logo... welcome to ActiveRain Nick.  I can't smile in pictures.

Susan I need a tripod but I am NOT much of a photographer so I've avoid buying one.  I was going to say I saw your mug show this morning but that was Kelley in AZ...House Chick... another  long haired pretty, young woman.  I will go look for your mug show!  If you got it flaunt it.

I have had my kids take a bunch of pics, at least digital is free and you can just delete the bad ones!

Robert having someone else shoot the photos probably makes a lot of sense.

Or some of us really need professional help.... actually my SO and I have a photo of the two of us taken by a professional this spring.  I cringe when I look at it.... It is a pretty good photo of me... but I looked so old and fat.

Maureen, take a shot with an I-Phone.  They don't have flashes.  And I like the new look!

My phone (Centro) does not have a flash, I have no idea why I close my eyes...   I don't think there'd be a difference with an iPhone but I will try my SO's.   Thanks

The new look is very flattering!  You look almost like you're scolding a child for some kind of mischief.  LOL  But it's a really nice photo!

You could always use a regular digital camera and set the timer on it.  Or have your SO take one for ya!

Maureen, I'm confused about the 'dog eye's' remark??? Please clue me in.

Carol I have this reflex reaction where my hand goes up to block my face when my SO holds a camera so I may have to over come that.

I am talking to my dog and step cat in the photos.  Hope I was not scolding them.  The dog lies against the wall where I was trying to take the photos and when I left he took up the spot and was not inclined to move so some photos I was further from the wall and talking to the dog about how I could step on him.

Cynthia dogs and cats get red eye even more than people...or often just a bright shiny dot where their eyes are in photos.  Cones?  My eyes have always shown up red eye or funny dots in flash photos.

It's funny how we have to acclimate to the postmodern buyer or investor by keeping up with technology and photos... I've also sold properties with photo of my golden, named Polo

That guru... what is his name?  Marc someone, 1000 Watts (or something like that?), writes for Inman?    would not approve of your

"I've also sold properties with photo of my golden, named Polo"

I saw him ragging on some new agents announcements recently because of  dog use.  It's his shtick.
