Ft. Myers Beach Town Manager fired due to Porn Star Wife

"Fort Myers Beach town manager Scott Janke was fired Tuesday after it recently came to light that his wife is an adult film actress who goes by the name of "Jazella Moore," FLORIDA TODAY news partner The News-Press of Fort Myers reports."

When Scott Janke took the job in April of 2008 many of us were elated that we had a pro active Town Manager. At each town meetings he seemed well prepared and ready to take the town in another direction: basically get things done!  If its the beach nourishments, the master zoning plan, the Newtown house project to renovate this historical landmark, the commercial signs, the parking meters, the new drainage system et..he always was on top of his game.We all liked him.He was a strong source of knowledge and enthusiasm.He looks like a bold Hemingway. http://carlosmiller.com/2009/07/22/florida-town-manager-fired-for-being-married-to-a-porn-star/

      Basically he was fired because his wife is a porn star actress" told councilman Bob Raymond. He has one week to clean up his affairs and finish whatever project he can finish.

      Fort Myers Beach always pride it self in being a family oriented city/island that is another reason why the town decided to fire him.

     What is a bit strange is who was goggling porn starts biographies in the first place? ..and specially the

  Some think that he shouldn't have to pay for his wife's profession..others believe that a public figure should have higher standards and be accountable. Many residents question the decision to fire Scott Janke. Would your town move on and keep the city manager?

  One thing I know is that Scott Janke wouldn't have been hired if he had disclosed the profession of his wife. On the other side its not like it comes up in the interview and it has nothing to do with his performance as City Manager. Yes its their personal life but I would draw the line if the wife was still an active "actress". Its a shame because he was a pretty good City Manager.

Having hired and fired hundreds in my former 'real job' I would have to have a lawyer go over the contract real close. Most have a clause for the employee, few for the family. Besides, what she is doing is not illegal! My guess is the town's lawyers could get real busy and the town may be shelling out some big bucks!

interesting ...he was in Seward Alaska before taking the job in Florida.. is this from her past or current job? and how does it affect his job? do other people get fired because their spouse has an unacceptable job... like what if she was a bear hunter and that offended people...would he get fired? If as you say he was doing a good job How does her job get him fired. Was it illegal? I dont know if I think it is fair to toss him out because of her profession....unless it somehow affected his ability to do his job...

John : you nailed it. its going to cost the town mucho denaro.And yes its not illegal. Its legal.

Debra: I knew about his background in Alaska.Interesting. Your neck of the woods. He beat the other contestants for the job fair and square. I don't know if she is still an active actress. I do know that he had been just through a salary revision based on a certain job performance criteria written by the town attorney. I haven't heard that the town was either unhappy about his performance or that they didn't gave him a raise.

Family ties have meaning. 

Being a member of the porn industry puts the spouce, a government official, squarely in the sights of the long arm of the porn industry which often leads to organized crime and corruption.

Being a porn actor is not exactly mainstream.  Being the spouse of a porn actor isn't going to be included on one's resume' but perhaps should have come out in the vetting, if he was vetted.

Hiring this gentleman may have been a mistake.  Keeping this gentleman, no matter how efficient, is simply accepting his association as acceptable.  Ask the parents of the electorate if they would talk about his to their children.

"Daddy, what's a porn actress?"

Well it just made the local TV stations here in Tampa this morning  so imagine it will be nationwide later today and they both will make the Today Show and Good Morning America by Monday! Then a book deal. Any bets? It is interesting, but sure  this is a law suit looking for a place to happen.

Debra: They married in October 2008 and he was hired in April 2008. She is still an active actress and has a new movie coming out in 2009. http://www.newsherald.com/news/fort-76032-myers-beach.html

Leen: when he married her in October 2008 he knew it was going to come up and he knew that he may get fired. By the way the town has a clause in his contract which says that the city managers can be fired without reason.That is what happened.

Lawyers will still have a field day with the city. Look for a huge settlement. He could be fired without reason, but they will have trouble with an illegal reason. They should have just shut their mouth and followed proper protocol for 3 - 6 months.
