Fingerjig

In this day an age of computers it's become a necessity to know how to type.  And with websites, blogs and home inspection reports it can really help out if you're more than a 2-fingered typist.  I learned how to type years ago in high school on a manual typewriter when it actually took a bit of effort to even push down a key.  Thinking back now the modern keyboard has sure come a long way in it's ease of use.

There's a fun site called Fingerjig where you can test your typing speed and accuracy.  I found it really interesting all the words that exist that can be typed from just one hand.  Give it a try and see how you do.  Oh, and if anyones interested my second go at it gave me 415,978 points whatever that means.

Yes my typing skills have come, and gone throughout the years.  I'm finding my fake nails are a real handicap!  But they are worth it.

Gee thanks, DJ - Now I have something else to distract me from doing my work. Just kidding, thats pretty cool. I scored 136,543 on my first try. I think that means I suck at typing (I am a LOT faster when I am not copying from something).

DJ ..I will go there right now to check it out as I have no training in typing and up till several months ago had to rely on a voice recognition program to do my typing for me.

It is only since I came on to Active Rain, that I have been typing on my own so this forum has helped me quite a bit.I hope that also helps explain why some of my thoughts appear a little jumbled in print at times.

Any way thanks for the tip for the site as I will come back and tell you my score embarresing as it might be.

I still need to look at the keyboard when I type.

Tim is fast in my world.

45,000 or just over 15 words per minute, now excuse me while I go in the next room and bang my head on the wall.

I find it much easier to type on a full size keyboard rather than a notebook keyboard. I amd not going to say what my score was but was not good.

I agree Jim, I too find it much easier to type on a full sized keyboard.  Having the use of spellcheck can help a ton too.  It usually takes care of any errors unless it defaults to an entirely different word with a similar spelling.  That can really mess ya up.

Well Gita, there's some pretty fast 2 fingered typers out there.  Would be nice if they had a test for that.  Just wondering, do you always use the same two fingers or do you switch them around?  LOL
