Wesleyan Hills Planned Residential Community, Middletown, Connecticut was one of five Planned Residential Communities that were built in Middletown, Connecticut during the 70's and 80's.  Of the five Planned Residential Communities Wesleyan Hills, Cedar Village, Sand Hill Road, Knox Boulevard, and The Farms, Wesleyan Hills was the largest and best planned of the five.

Wesleyan Hills Planned Residential Community, Middletown, Connecticut is comprised of over 560 units, which are almost split equally between single family homes and condominiums.  Wesleyan Hills is divided into sections that are identified by colors, and within each section all the street begin with the section color. The Blue, Yellow, and Green sections are composed of moderately priced houses that are affordable to "First Time Homebuyers", and well as the two large condominium complexes.  The Red section contains house that are larger and higher in price than the other three sections.

Wesleyan Hills Planned Residential Community, Middletown, Connecticut also has over three miles of paved walking paths, beautiful pond areas, club house with pool and tennis courts, approximately 100 acres of open space and abuts the historic Wadsworth State Park.  With 560 units within a relatively small contained area one would think that the area would seem confined, but because of the well planned locations of the open space, walking trails that interweave between the four housing sections, and two small ponds, this community presents a much larger appearance then it really is.

The Wesleyan Hills Planned Residential Community, Middletown, Connecticut, is also the only one of the five Planned Residential Communities that has its own Elementary School within the community, "Wesley School".  Students with in the community are all within a short walk of the school, which encourages much more interaction between the school and community.

If all these things were not enough to make the Wesleyan Hills Planned Residential Community, Middletown, Connecticut, standout from all the other communities in town, it also has two Banquet Facilities within the grounds called "The Barns", which offer a meeting room at a minimal rate for residents, is ideal for family parties. The Big Barn, usually reserved for weddings and larger events, is also discounted for residents.  "The Barns" are very popular to not only the residence of Middletown, but also to several area towns.  One of the ponds within Wesleyan Hills is located next to "The Barns" making these facilities very popular for weddings.  The pond area provides a beautiful setting for pictures.

If you are planning to buy a house in Middletown Connecticut, I would highly recommend the Wesleyan Hills Planned Residential Community, Middletown, Connecticut as one of the places that you should consider.  And as always I am here to help you secure a mortgage so you can purchase the house that is perfect for you.

George, very good! Planned unit developments are still a mystery to me, we don't have them over here. But it sounds very intriguing! And you are the man to go to for that mortgage, I can attest to that! Great job!

George, The theory of green spaces and cluster development is a great achievement in community design. It allows the infrastructure (roads, water & sewer, utilities) to be put in defined areas and the green areas can remain natural. These folks were ahead of there time, in the design you describe and I'm sure the residence there are happy to have been part of the vision. We have worked on several plans like this and when completed the feeling of community is a great selling point.

Andrea, we have several Planned Residential Communities here in town.  Besides these five which were the first ones built here in Middletown, we have had several others since then.

Steve, yes this was a little ahead of its time, especially since they had lots of land to build on over here during that time.  Today everyone seems to be thinking green, but back then I don't think anyone new what green meant.
