Oak Park is a vibrant, diverse suburb just west of Chicago. It is a very pedestrian and bicycle-friendly community with access to the CTA via multiple blue and green line stops as well as a Metra station. The downtown area is very lively with many shops and restaurants. There are also smaller neighborhood "shopping districts" with boutiques, art galleries, coffee shops, restaurants, and the occasional bar/lounge. There are several parks and playgrounds scattered throughout the village as well. Our housing stock ranges from condos under $100K-500K+ and houses ranging from about $225K to $1M+. If you're interested in learning more about the opportunities in the area, I'd love to help you. Feel free to contact me via my website below. Hi Lauri. I lived in Oak Park for about 7 years right after college. I don't think I fully appreciated it back then. I was mostly annoyed by the parking rules (I was in an apartment with no parking). A few years back I had the opportunity to show some clients around Oak Park, rediscovered the "urban/suburban" atmosphere. It has changed since I lived there, with, I think, a more vibrant downtown. It is a nice area.
I would like to go there and will in the near future..
Thanks for this post..

I love Oak Park, I can see me raising a family there! Such a nice burb with great proximity to Chicago. Only downside, i went to Fenwicks rival high school and cannot bear to see, if i have boys, my kids go there! Ah, but its still a great school.
I hear there are good investments in Oak park, is that true?
Hi RJ,
There are some nice investment condos on the market right now as well as some reasonably priced larger buildings. I'd be happy to help you with your search -- feel free to contact me via my RE/MAX website: http://lchristofano.illinoisproperty.com
Hope to hear from you soon!

-- What high school did you attend? I grew up in Willowbrook and attended Hinsdale Central, but many of my grade school classmates went to Fenwick and other prep schools.
