Eliminating the ants...

By

HI guys I just have a quick question.  So the sun is out and the weather is nice but unfortunately the ant population is out in full force.  Does anybody know of an effective  non chemical solution to get rid of them?  I have babies and dogs and don't really want poison out where they could possibly come in contact with it.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.  I hope you have a great day and thanks for your suggestions!!

As long as they aren't Carpenter ants or Moisture ants, I wouldn't worry about them.  Ants are, for the most part, beneficial insects.

Grits will work work some of the time.  You put it down like around where the ants are.  Mostly if follow the ants back to the nest you can just put some poison in that one spot.  The granules work well but I can't think of the name.  Most people try to kill the few ants they see roaming but that doesn't kill the nest.  You have to find that and there you go

I have babies and dogs too, and we did have to resort to a chemical this Spring for the first time ever.  We used "TERRO."  We got it from Lowe's and it is a gel you put on little pieces of paper and then we put it waaayyyy back on the counter where no one can reach it.  Seriously, two days and they have been gone ever since.  Good luck with your impending battle!
