Barberton Ohio homes were born of Ohio Columbus (O.C.) Barber's vision in the late 1800's. As a visionary industrialist, Barber was one of the wealthiest men in early Akron. His vision was more in line with early Pennsylvania towns that mixed quality residential developments with industry surrounding. As Akron was developed with industry all around, i.e. Goodyear, Firestone, General Tire and Seiberling, Barber looked outside of then Akron and found an area to his liking. Mostly farmland and rural, Barber purchased large lots of land near Norton Ohio and moved his companies, Diamond Match Co, a packaging company for his matches and a sewer pipe company. All were nationally known, in fact Barber was known to all as the "Match King". He called in some of these Pennsylvania experts to lay out the tract for his new city.
He then sold off tracks of land for housing and it went better than expected, 300 future Barberton Ohio homes were sold at the first offering. Developed around a beautiful, naturally fed, spring lake and park, Barberton Ohio was born. The park is known everywhere around Akron and is called Lake Anna, after O.C.'s daughter. It's a wonderful place to spend an afternoon with the family.

Thankfully, O.C. Barber was yet another pioneer in early Akron that saw a need and provided to his workers an affordable place to live close to work and it became Barberton Ohio homes. After OC's legacy, Barberton Ohio is still known today as "The Magic City"
