Trust Your Home Stager - It's Hard To Be Impartial

Home Stager with Dezigner Digz

Let's face it.  When the time comes to sell your home, my guess is that you'll think yours is the one that will be swept up the minute the sign is on your lawn.  Or in more modern lingo, the minute it hits the net.  It's human nature.  We all think that way, regardless of market conditions.

The large grey elephant that you painstakingly painted on your dining room wall inspired by your summer vacation may be a selling feature to you.  However, not everyone else is going to feel the same way.  The same goes for dear old Aunt Edna's life-size portrait prominently displayed right in the foyer.  When you think about it, the portrait intimidates you.  What do you think it will do to prospective buyers?  They'll be out the door before you know it!

Being able to stand back and take an impartial look at your home can be a difficult thing to do.  You are invested in your home and every item in it.  This is where real estate staging comes in.  It's the stager's job to gently persuade you into making needed changes, preferably before you even put your home on the market.

So don't be afraid to paint over the elephant or pack away Aunt Edna's portrait.  And by the way, I can guarantee you that nobody wants to view your museum worthy collection of dead bugs under glass either.  It should be packed away as well.

As a piece of advice in closing, try to be unbiased when you look at each room.  Make them all look appealing.  And above all, trust your home stager.  He or she is professionally trained to know what helps to sell a house.

P.S.  Your Aunt Edna stopped by my office.  Something about changing her Will?
