Ontario Green Energy Act

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Crosstown Realty Inc

The Green Energy Act received a third reading at Queens Park this past week. Though the intention being put forth that this initiative is purely in the interest of making homes more environmentally friendly, it would not be the first government initiative that takes from the pockets of consumers and home owners while selling itself as being good for all.

It will certainly impact on the cost of buying real estate in Ontario and put many  thousands more on the far side of qualifying for home ownership in Ontario once it is put in play.

Hey Mike!

What are some of the important points you could highlight for us as to what it entails and what makes it bad for homeownership.  As you may know, the U.S. National Association of Realtors just helped to defeat another measure they felt would also inhibit home ownership and I'm wondering if yours are the same issues.

Canada always seems to have great green initiatives, but of course they come at a price.  I guess it is just part of living in such a great country.

Mike - Do you know if all of the regulations to the law have been finalized yet?  Otherwise, we will not be able to understand the full impact of the new law.
