A Prettier Powder Room

Powder RoomIn looking at the interiors of many homes for sale as well as new construction and luxury homes you get an appreciation for the Master Baths particularly. I think we all like

   A Prettier Powder Room.

I think even men who like garages in particular, just like the woman of the house, can appreciate a pleasing to the eye master bath. Bathrooms like kitchens hold steady a fair amount of the investment when you remodel in these areas. If you are looking for just an upgrade in lifestyle or higher resale with your home, think master bath. Some ideas:

Freestanding tubs, marble stone, new counter materials, a fresh look with the tile on the floor, frameless showers, multiple shower heads, higher end cabinetry, upgrades to lighting, nickel or premium faucet fixtures, ALL add to the elegance of the new bathroom. Don't forget all the efficient toilet saving designs like water saver and enlongated seats.

With an upgrade in this area you create---

Another WOW house!!!

Gary, I think you're absolutely right about bathrooms, when they're upgraded and look fabulous it's something people remember.  I believe it's a good place to invest money in even if you're going to be selling.

A well designed and decorated master bath is very important selling point in homes. I like to have one myself.

Very Very true Gary ! And especially seeing as we use 'this' room probably as much as any other in the house, it makes sense to make it as pleasing as can be right !!

Great tips :o)

We actually did this a while ago for our master bathroom, and loved the results :o)

... this was one of the final stages ... it's one of my favorite rooms in the house :o)

That would make me not want to go to work--I'd have my own spa just some music or video and I'd be set.  Very nice to share such a beautiful Master bath.

Hi Gary,

Stunning! I love my bathroom, it has a walkin shower, and a spectacular jetted tub, with the walkin closet on the side. If ever a bad day, I know I can light a candle and go snuggle up in some bubbles! :)

Hi Gary... I have had several clients choose to purchase or not purchase a home due to the master bath.  It CAN be a deal breaker!

Hi Gary,

Women will always look for the luxurious master bath. You can't go wrong spending money to upgrade this room of the house..it will be money well spent.

Gary - You are so right - This week I was showing homes to my clients from New York and the Master bath and kitchen was the most two important rooms for them.  It have to be updated.

Hi Gary, This is a very timely subject for many homeowners both for their own use and for achieving a higher value at resale. A bit different than the usual personal inspiration posts but this is definitely an inspirational idea for the home.

So true.  Next to the kitchen, if the bathroom "doesn't have the goods" then the house is a no go for most home buyers.

Gary:  I wonder what would happen if I were "previewing" this home... and when I saw this bathroom... I barricaded the front door, and jumped into the tub for a few hours.  Ya think anyone would notice ?

Hi Gary, I also agree with the comments above. I believe that people want a beautiful space to escape to, and a great master bathroom is high on their list of must haves.

@Sheldon, Great results! Beautiful master bath!

As in most things, I am in the minority here.  If I looking for a home for myself, the kitchen is more important than the master bath.  I am a foodie and love to cook.  So most of my time is spent in the kitchen.  The master bath is not important at all other than cleanliness.  Now when it comes time to sell, now that's a different story.  I'll have to look at things a bit differently.

Gary - Kitchens and baths can be the greatest selling feature or the greatest turn off. The seller eventually has to decide to update to get the enjoyment and use over time with the potential for better future resale value of the home OR to take a hit when it's time to sell. One way or another, a seller will pay the price of their decision to update these areas of the home or let it go.
