It`s Sunday " Do you know where your Realtor is?"

By
Real Estate Agent with Florida List For Less Realty, Inc.

I`ve read some great posts today about showing instructions ( daniels and pavey). both professionals discuss how difficult it is to locate a Realtor in South Florida on a Sunday.

Many times, i believe Sunday isn`t the only day that a Realtor can`t  be found.

In fact lets say it`s difficult Mon-Sat. as well!

There is a home located in Weston that our client wanted to see. It took me 4 x`s to contact the Realtor to no avail and another 2x`s to get to the office.

The point is that my client realized that the motivation of the Realtor and maybe the seller was nil!

Although, i`m not criticizing Realtors who have previous commitments or other sources of income it`s important that you as a professional do have responsibilities.

There should be a fine imposed by our local boards of $100.00 to any Realtor who doesn`t return a "Showing" cCll with 48 hours.....

Again, knowing how some operate that idea won`t work either!

I pull out 25 listings some days and receive 7 calls back.. The rest are asleep at the wheel.

I dont know how your market works but do you have the option "Call First Lock box or are you required to call agents before a showing?  I dont work on Sundays and havent for many years and all my listings have instructions on how they can be shown no matter what day I take off.

Although there have been many times when the instructions say Call Agent and it usually takes quite a while to get a return call.  I have even pretended to be a buyer just to get a return call.

maybe 8,9 ,or 10 am is too early too! maybe the sun is up, and they just don't care to answer! when do realtors r suppose to respond? before we impose a fine, we should have the rules clear.

Here in TN the offices are closed Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday. It is very difficult to find an agent on the weekend.

I feel the same way, because I had a similiar situation today.  The property that I wanted to show did not have an MLS approved lockbox on it, so I had to wait around until I got the code from the listing agent...

Talk about someone who doesn't want to sell a listing...

You're way to generous! 48 hours? I would expect a call back within 2 hours, tops! And even 2 hours is just not right! If I'm setting appointments, I'm setting them in geographic order. If I don't reach an agent by calling the 3 numbers on the MLS, I schedule my next home for that time slot. If I finish with scheduling all of the homes in that neighborhood, then I just won't show the one that the agent is AWOL!  I make it a point of differentiation on my listing appointments that our office is staffed 7 days a week.

Most of our offices here on Marco have Sunday hours and you can book showings 7 days a week.   It is the exception rather the rule here that we cannot reach an agent...

I have to agree with Colleen - here in Colorado Springs, we have the same situation. Offices are open 7 days a week - staffed. Showings are set up either by the front desk or a showing coordinator. Makes things much easier!

I have difficult time dealing with "hard to reach" Realtors- why would I sell their home? Wont the contract process be just as difficult? Geesh!

I`ve seen it happen on a Mon-Fri as well. Some Realtors don`t care!

Yes, I agree!  There are a good amount of part time Realtors in the Atlanta market, who can't answer there phone during business hours, due to the fact there working a 9-5.  Very frustrating!

You know That is one of my top 3 complaints.  Call to set a showing and the Lisitng agent doesn't return the call.  After two calls I call the broker and finally if it is an absolute for the client I have been known to go to the home and speak with the Seller.  Asking them if would be convenient for me to do a showing all the while apologizing for the direct contact but explaining I had been unable to contact their Realtor.  In every case I've not been turned down and sometime thereafter I receive an apologetic call from some distressed Agent with some limp excuse.  How ever over time word has gotten around and I now rarely have to take what some may take as extreme measure.
