The Southeast section of Waterbury Ct is called the East Mountain Area, aptly named because it lies on the elevated hills that form the boundary between Waterbury Ct and Prospect, Ct. The area is easily recognized by the by an earthen dam, built in the late 1800's, that was once a source of drinking water for the town, but was put into a reserve status when the city's current reservoir system was established in the early 1900's.

As with many of the residential areas of Waterbury, recreation areas are considered, and in June of this year, the town reopened East Mountain Park to the formalities of ribbon cutting, a parade, and an afternoon of fun and food for all. The parks offers fun areas for all ages with baseball and soccer fields, tennis and basketball courts; a playground for younger children, and a walking trail for everyone.
Adjacent to this park is the East Mountain Golf Course,a municipal course built in 1933, and offering a challenge to golfers of all ages and skills. The course occupies a corner site in East Mountain, with many homes having the course as it's back yard neighbor, or offering landscaped views for many of the residents or passersby.
Home values in East Mountain are consistent with many of the other sections of town ranging between the mid $120,000s to just under $300,000.
