How to Become a 'Tweeter'...The Easy Way

By
Real Estate Agent with Associate Broker, Momentum Realty

If you are already 'tweeting' on Twitter, you can skip this post, but if you are not, there is a really easy way to become a 'Tweeter.'

ActiveRain makes it very simple to send notification of your new posts to Twitter.  It is amazing how quickly you will develop a following on Twitter simply by allowing AR to update your Twitter with notification of your new posts.

How do you do this?

  1. Set up a Twitter Profile.
  2. Go in to your Settings in Active Rain (left hand side of your profile). That will bring you to a screen that says 'Blog Settings'
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the 'Blog Settings' page
  4. Enter your Twitter Name and Password in the Twitter section. You will have the opportunity to click whether or not you want your Member Only posts included in these updates. My recommendation is no (didn't you make them Members Only for a reason?), but it is your call
  5. Click Update and you are done. You will now be 'tweeting' each time you post a public blog to AR

For me, this is as much Twitter exposure as I want right now.  One post, two platforms. Doesn't get much easier than that.

Don't forget that Twitter is a very public venue; anything you post there is released in to the internet wild. Be mindful of your 'tweets.'  I blogged about that yesterday in my post Tweeting for Trouble. Even the most innocent statements can be misconstrued or taken out of context, so be careful as you Blog and Tweet.

Happy Tweeting!

Twitter can be a huge waste of time. I use it sparingly an think some may find linking great.

I'm with you Holly. I was encouraged to use Twitter, Facebook, and Linkedin by an office mentor.  Posting involved going to each site to write.  Now. as an AR Rainmaker with an outside blog, I post to my blog and it goes immediately to Twitter, then to FB with an unpredictable delay.   AR saves me time.  I still post to Twitter and Facebook directly but with less frequency.  This change has proved to be a smart move. Thanks for bringing to everyone's attention.

We do use the feed from ActiveRain to Twitter and the application from Facebook to Twitter. Our outside blog posts on ActiveRain automatically become links on Twitter and Facebook. However, there are good arguments from both sides as to the effectiveness of those links. Many on Twitter and Facebook prefer to see personal posts rather than business items.

I am with Dave, I am a little hesitant, but I am thinking about it.  I am not relly sure what it is all about or how much time and effort will have to go into it.  A lot of agents are starting to use it though.  If I do decide to join I will keep a copy of your blog to set up AR on it, Thanks

Thanks, Holly.  I have been skipping around the Twitter thing and I am sure that is a lot to learn.  But if members of Congress can use it, how difficult can it be.
