I need help with marketing myself

By
Home Stager with Becky Fields Home Staging and ReDesign

I was talking to a friend today who is planning a Ladie's Day Out party to introduce or feature local women entrepreneurs.  She is very invloved in many groups in our city and she asked me to co-host this event with her as I had organized a very successful Trade Show a few weeks ago.

The women involved so far sell purses, jewelry, candles, accessories for the home, make up, spa products and my friend markets supplimental and nutritional products.  We will be having wine tasting from a local winery and hor'devours.  This party is an Open House on a Saturday afternoon from 1pm-5pm.

My friend asked what I could contribute about my business.  As we are doing a redesign on her home, she said we could show before pictures and people would see the after. Problem is we will be moving furniture around to display everyone's product so the after will not really be what I do.

So what I am looking for is a way to explain what I do (since I am a service and not a product).   Or as co-host, I could have something that everyone takes home (like a party favor). How can I market myself at this event that would be memorable for people coming  and going?

Thanks for any advice or suggestions.

Hi Becky, how bout a free or dollars off coupon for a consultation?  The guests may not be able to use it but may pass it along to a friend who has a house on the market.

Becky: I would do blow ups of some before and after photos of other jobs. Also, photograph this client's house as it should be (before everything gets moved around) and do a blow up of that also. Offer a raffle for a free staging or redesign consultation - everyone puts their business card in a bowl and you draw a name. Sounds like fun!

Put some flyers together with your busienss cards, people take them home and when they know someone is moving they can refer you.

Booths at these shows are fun, but it takes a while for any business to grow from these.  I've found that people take the information, watch the powerpoint I have at my booth while signing up for my "giveaway," and then takes about 3-6 months for any type of turnaround.  You need to have patience, and your efforts will pay off.  Don't get discouraged if there isn't immediate fruit for your labor.

Is there a room in her house that you did and would be left intact- they could see that one?  Also if you have after photos (but before the reshuffling is done) would be good.

I do a drawing for a choice of a staging consultation, a one room interior redesign - up to 3 hours, or an up to 3 hour color consultation.  They can also give it to someone else as a gift.  Make up a nice certificate put it in a dark frame that has a display  easel on the back and you can stage a little vignette to display it on.
