Smith & Bishel Hardware In Middletown, Connecticut

By
Mortgage and Lending with George Souto NMLS #65149 FHA, CHFA, VA Mortgages NMLS #65149

When I do a Mortgage Loan for a Borrower, one of the first things that I always advise them to do is to replace all of the locks on their new house as soon as possible, and the place that I tell them to go to is Smith & Bishel Hardware In Middletown, Connecticut.  They can go to one of the big boys like Home Depot, or Lowe's, but non of those places will give them the type of personal and professional service like they will get from Scott Bishel at Smith & Bishel Hardware In Middletown, Connecticut.

Smith & Bishel Hardware In Middletown, Connecticut is probably the oldest business in Downtown Middletown.  Smith & Bishel Hardware was started by Scott Bishel's Great, Great Grandfather in 1898.  For those of you who have a hard time doing math, that is 111 years that this family owned and operated business has been around.

Smith & Bishel Hardware In Middletown, Connecticut is not only the place to go to get your new locks for your new home, it is also the place to go for your paint, tools, and other hardware necessities.  Smith & Bishel Hardware In Middletown, Connecticut is especially a great place to go for those hard to find items, like special nuts & bolts, you name the size and shape and they have it.

You will even find things there like corks and faucets for wine barrels since Middletown was the home for many Italian immigrants, making your own wine was very popular, and Smith & Bishel Hardware catered to their needs.  And that is exactly what Smith & Bishel Hardware In Middletown, Connecticut does, they cater to peoples needs.

One of the things that I have found Smith & Bishel Hardware In Middletown, Connecticut especially good for is special tools that you just can't seem to find anywhere else.  But living in an older house the need for special wrenches and other odd ball items are needed more often then I would care to admit.  Scott Bishel is also a professional Locksmith, and I have found the need for his services more than once.

Smith & Bishel Hardware In Middletown, Connecticut has been and will continue to be one of my go to places for hardware needs, and one of the first places that I will continue to tell my Borrowers to go visit.

George, awesome! I love this type of hardware store, just love it. Way to go. You sure you are not undercover for a newspaper or something? I bet you do a fish store before this is finished. :D

Andrea, now there is an idea I had not thought of and there is one just down the street.  I had a blast going around talking to some of the local small business people and taking pictures for the next series of blogs.

I miss the old fashioned hardware stores like this.  It is always easier to find what you are looking for and listen to some practical advice from someone who cares.

George - this is a wonderful Localism post. Seems so many places like this has just disappeared. I see you have blogging like crazy recently...those points really CAN be an incentive. LOL

Jim, it is amazing how much there is in this small space, especially things that you would not find anywhere else.

Jeff I use to be involved in a couple of organizations with Scott's Uncle Bob who ran the store before him, and Scott's son was one the Middletown Wrestling Team with my youngest son, so I have a few ties with the family.  I have a feeling that Scott will be the last one  to keep the business going, there does not seem to be any interest by his son to continue it.  And yes the points do help to motivate, but they are not the real benefit in this as you well know :)

George, that's a really nice post on Smith and Bishel Hardware. We have the big stores here too, but I like our Ace Hardware.  Ace here has really great service and some interesting things too, like cool housewarming gifts.

Jen, we have an Ace Hardware also, and they have good quality also, but Smith & Bishel just seem to have those things that you can't find anywhere else.

I long for an old hardward store. Threre was a great one in SF.  This looks like the place to find those things you can't find anywhere else.

Joan it is that type of place.

Sally I think that you are right, I know that they have gotten a lot of involvement so far through the first challenge.

Do you think they would have screens for hunting diamonds?

Ann, OK I am almost afraid to ask why you would need a screen for hunting diamonds.  But I will ask any way, why would you need a screen for hunting diamonds????

I always thought tha you got diamonds out of a mine.
