As I was growing up I had an uncle who would always say...
"Peter... if you want to know who a person really is... just watch who they hang around with."
And he was right... those who were struggling always seemed to be surrounded by others who were struggling and those who enjoyed success always seemed to associate with other successful people.
During my seminars I will ask participating real estate investors to write down the names of the 6 people they associate with the most. I ask them this to get them thinking about where and from whom they get most of their input... the good, the bad and the ugly.
Think about it. Are the people you hang around with even capable of giving you guidance and support to assist you to achieve your goals? For many of you, you may not have even mentioned to those close to you that you are investing in real estate. In fact, I just conducted an interview yesterday with a real estate investor who wants to join The Club Mastermind and she indicated that she could not share her desire to be involved as a real estate investor because the people she associated with would thing that she was crazy.
Also, consider this interesting fact... I have been told that you can determine the income of an individual by knowing the average income of the 6 people they associate with the most.
Now... that statement should have gotten everyone's attention!
I always explain to seminar participants... "Donald Trump does hang around with Pete Giardini. He hangs out with other Billionaires."
So.... How about you? Are the 6 people you associate with the most helping you or holding you back? Would you be comfortable introducing them to others as being representative of the types of people who influence you and your thinking? Is your income higher or lower then the average of these 6 people?
If you have to think twice about this then perhaps you have some tough decisions to make regarding your associations.
To your success,
Peter Giardini
