Twitter continues to confound me. I have 390 followers and 422 whom I am following. I do not think I personally know a single one of these people. Most of them seem to be selling either self help advice or marketing tricks and tips.
Now don't get me wrong. Nothing wrong with hawking your wares online. I do that all the time. If anyone reading this article wants to pick the phone up and refer a client to me for real estate services in Raleigh, that would be great. But that's not what this article is about.
This article is written in hopes of starting a little conversation here on Active Rain on this Monday morning about Twitter. Maybe that can add some real value in some way. I certainally hope so. At least we can all have a good time with some banter about Twitter.
I had a steep climb in Twitter followers about 90 days ago. That's when all the people offering the self help and marketing advice showed up. I'll have to say that many of them have very boring tweets. Same thing, over and over, click here to find out how to...
Kinda takes the social out of social networking, doesn't it?
So here's what I propose. All of you fellow Realtors reading this follow me and I'll follow you back. Then when we're bored waiting somewhere, we can take out our phones and tweet something interesting.
At least if the conversation degrades to real estate it's something we all know a little about. And who knows, we may even be able to give one another some good advice about our businesses. Hey, we could even trade referrals this way too. Or we could always opt to just have fun, friendly discussions on Twitter to help make the day go a little better.
So, what do you think? Want to give Twitter another shot? I'm game if you are.
