Being a real estate agent can be a tough choice for a career but it can also be a great choice. Here are my personal top 7 reasons why this career ROCKS!
1) I am in control.
This may not always feel like the case, but overall I am in control of my hours, my efforts, and my paycheck. I get to choose how much prospecting I do or don't do. I am in control of how I time-block my day, where I spend my working hours and who I choose to work with. This in and of itself is a beautiful thing after working in the corporate arena for a long time. I'm in charge of me and most importantly, my attitude!
2) It is a family-friendly job. 
When I was working for a large national home builder and was in a corporate position I had a difficult time some days figuring out what to do; if I needed to leave early - go to the meeting at the office or go to the recital at school? I also missed out on things like soccer games, dinners, family get-togethers and much more. Now, I feel like I can CHOOSE who, where, and when, and put first things first. I can take days off to just go fishing with the kids or leave early to go on a date with my handsome hubby. It is a family-friendly job because I can have both family and career and can keep my family as my number one!
3) Every day is different. 
One of the reasons I love being a Realtor is that each and every day is truly different than the rest. Some days I am a counselor, other days I am a hunter hunting out new business, some days I am a data-specialist, other times I am a stager-decorator, blogger, sometimes I am a marketing guru and a techie and last but not least I am in the business of relationships.
There has been nothing else in my life so far that has made me think and strategize like this job has. I truly believe that after being in this profession I could confidently start many different types of small businesses. Every day we have to strategize, analyze, and think, think, think! Hardly a day goes by that I don't learn something new and I love that!
There is no such thing as a glass ceiling in real estate. You can make hundreds, thousands, or hundreds of thousands and yes, MILLIONS if you plan and play your cards right. This is wonderful news for anyone who aspires to make 30,000 a year or 300,000 a year. Lots of agents are doing both so it's really up to you to implement and practice the actions to get you to the level you want to achieve.
6) It's fun! 
How can looking at homes and helping people solve their problems not be fun??? I admit there are many a day that can frustrate even the most even-tempered agent but overall I think this job is F-U-N and I wouldn't trade it for a cubicle or even a corner office in corporate America!
I do love who I work for - "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men." Colossians 3:23 I also LOVE working for Keller Williams. KW is truly a great company and they walk the walk not just talk the talk! I have a broker who has heart and is motivating. I can't imagine being at any other company.
