Olathe, Kansas could get a One of a Kind Museum
Developers of the Olathe Gateway development area which includes the Bass Pro Shop are proposing to build a one of a kind museum with the University of Kansas. In the proposed 681,000 square foot retail center there are three museum's proposed for the west section of development. KU has provided a letter of intent to expand it's Spencer Art Museum and it Natural History Museum. The potential museums could have state-of-the art interactive and learning exhibits. Authorities state that these museum's will include items never been seen before. The City of Olathe has decided to conduit a feasibility study to determine how these museum's will proved a draw to the region and community plus there's the financial support needed on an going basis. The intent is for whatever is developed to provide a fresh inspiring opportunity that has vitality and a lot of energy.
Other developments at the Olathe Gateway retail development park are a hotel and convention center originally proposed. The sports arena originally proposed has been scrapped. City of Olathe officials are looking for something special for this area.
For those of you that have been watching the development of the buildings next to the Bass Pro Shop, they are scheduled to provide a Longhorn Steakhouse, a Jason's Deli and a Starbucks! It great to see all this development being conducted on 119th between Ridgeview and 1-35. The City of Olathe is really providing wonderful benefits to a great Olathe community!
What's your thoughts on the museums? Do you have any other ideas that would provide a draw to the community of Olathe? What will draw people to this area?
