Lines, Lines, everywhere a line!

Services for Real Estate Pros with Gloria Home Staging,Inc.

Some houses present challenges for us at Gloria Home Staging. This one had lines everywhere. The house was a beautiful log cabin near Orlando. While we were in the home doing our walk through, we did not notice how many lines there were. Looking at the pictures to begin our planning was a bit of a shock. There were lines on the tiled floor. On the walls there were lines from the loft, lines in the windows, lines on the ceiling, lines even from the blankets on the banister. In the pictures it was busy, not restful and inviting.

Knowing that buyers are looking at homes first online, we knew we had to do something to break up all the lines, and on a small budget. As we worked through the pictures, we puzzled over the problem and decided to bring in as many round or free flowing things as we could, and to take down the blankets to eliminate some of the lines. As we worked through the house on the day of the staging, we also found that putting some of the furniture on a diagonal helped break up the lines. When we finished we ask the owner if it felt too empty or strange. Her reply was, "It just feels clean."

Susan...this home is in the Orlando area?  Never thought about a log home in Florida but then I haven't seen much of Florida and would like to someday.  I also never would have considered sautillo tile with logs but you did a good jobs in minimizing all of those lines.

It is amazing that the camera eye can see what is not obvious to us...at first.  And the talented stagers learn to see like the camera.  Susan, good to see you and your work.  I too am amazed at the log home in Florida.  Good work and hi to Laurie.  You are two of our favs in Florida.

Laurie and I were surprised by the log cabin. What really keeps us wondering is that it is in the middle of suburbia, close to the expressway and still had the cabin in the mountains feeling! A treasure for who ever buys it.

You certainly did a nice job of making those rooms feel larger. I particularly like the bedroom. By putting the bed on the paneled wall, it almost feels like a large headboard. It's a really nice focal point.

Cathy,  Thanks We were really happy to see this room pull together. The plaid curtains picked our colors for us. We were able to find colors and rearrange the room to really show it off.

Karen, Thank you. When we finished it really was a breath of fresh air.

Sharon,  Thanks this home was fun, when we arrived there were moose everywhere even one that deposited raisinettes. The homeowner was very cooperitive which always makes a job easier.

Kathy,  I will have to join the group but I will be happy to. Thank you for your intrest.

The tile flooring creates quite a bit of those lines - not sure what it looked like before but it certainly looks large open and appealing!

Malita,  The flooring did add to the line. When we were staging it I realized some of the tile had animal tracks in them. They were scattered throughout the house adding to the country feel.

Kathy thanks!

Nice job, I wouldn't have pictured a log home in Orlando.  You took the challenge and overcame it!

Great job.  It will be very interesting to see how long it takes to find a buyer for this style home.

I couldn't live with it.  It's way to busy for me

Cindy and Wendy, Thanks for the compliment. After seeing the pictures the song got stuck in my head and fit the pictueres.

Virginia, With the lines in the pictures it is busy however when you are actually in the home it is peaceful. The wrap around porch, the pool and balcony give a very restful appealing feel as well as the open plan, I think the price bracket will slow things down more than the lines.
