Of course, the decor is unbelievable. When my husband sees the mural of the Mexican girl on the right he immediately fancies himself in Rose's cantina in El Paso falling in love with Felina in Marty Robbins classic hit, "El Paso"
The Woodbridge El Paso Authentic Mexican Restaurant opened in 1999 and is the first of four similar restaurants in Virginia.
- All four restaurants are family owned and operated
- El hefe (the boss) in each kitchen is from Mexico and is responsible for training assistant cooks in the preparation of authentic Mexican food.
- All menu items are prepared fresh daily and are served on hot plates, because Mexican food is best when prepared fresh and served hot.
- There are authentic Mexican dishes on the menu that cater to the tastes of people of Mexican background as well as menu items generally associated with Mexican American restaurants and, of course, several traditional American menu items.
- They also cater private functions
An example of an authentic Mexican dish would be one of my husband's favorites - Menudo, a spicy soup/stew made with tripe and hominy served with lime wedges, oregano, chopped onions, red pepper and steamed corn tortillas. Have you ever tried Tacos De Lengua, a soft taco made with beef tongue? El Paso serves what I consider to be the finest Margarita east of Albuquerque, New Mexico, my hometown.
Geniality and awareness of their customer tastes are what keeps many patrons coming back to El Paso Authentic Mexican Restaurant. For example, when we are seated a side order of guacamole appears for me while Arthur's side of the booth receives habanero sauce for the homemade tortilla chips.
