Be Wise Farms sums up a CSA as this :
"In a CSA, a community is created between a local farmer and consumers. The consumers purchase a "share" of the upcoming harvest produced on the farm. The cost of a share is based on the true costs of production. By purchasing a share, the consumers obtain farm-fresh, organic produce on a weekly basis while helping to keep a local family farm economically and environmentally viable."
This is how I explain Be Wise Farms, my local CSA:
Delicious, fresh and nutritious fruits and vegetables that are delivered every other week to a drop off place a mile from my home. I drive and pick up my goods and bring them home. I rip open the box like a little girl on Chrismas morning excited to see what is inside. I am never disappointed...I have tasted the best tomatoes, plums, green onions, grapefruits, etc each and every week. It forces me to try new things like chard and arugula. Not only does it taste delicious, I know I am doing something good for my family AND my community.
When you purchase from a CSA, you have peace of mind knowing that the produce is grown locally with no chemicals. You are supporting local farmers in your community that are helping to preserve water and air quality by not using chemicals in the soil or on the produce. Bill and Marsanne Brammer are the owners of Be Wise Farm and have been farming since 1977 and are certified by California Certified Organic Farmers, a non-profit organization. CCOF maintains one of the most consumer recognized and trusted seals in the organic marketplace.
It that is not enough to entice you into receiving produce from a sustainable farm then how about the price? Check out www.bewiseranch.com and see how organic local produce can be more affordable than you think! Trial membership is just $120 for 4 bi weekly deliveries of a small box and $140 for 4 bi weekly deliveries of the large box of produce. That starts at just $30 a box that is packed full of healthy and delicious fruits and vegetables....isn't your family worth it?
Personally, it is the best decision I have ever made for me, my family and my community.
