My uncle, Charles Leonard, drowned there in the 1930's.  Does anyone have a newspaper account of the accident?

 

How deep is the lake, and when did the mining operation cease?

My 4th great grandfather worked for the Chestnut Hill Iron Ore Mine back around 1870. Two of his sons also worked there. He died in the 1870's when only 60-some years old. I'm wondering if as a result of perhaps an accident at the mine. Can anyone help or does anyone know if there are records of accidents or a tally of employees of the mine in Chestnut Hill? I have no idea where he's buried, but maybe Silver Spring Cem or in the area. Thought perhaps if there were any registers kept by the Grubb famiy who owned the mine that they might shed light on his employment or anything about him. Does anyoen know of anything that would help? I live locally, in E Lampeter Twp.
