Rancho Bernardo Inn is offering a menu based reduction in rates that can get you a room at this beautiful, luxury resort, complete with golf course, spa, 3 pools and 2 restaurants at up to 91% off from August 16 - 31, 2009! Rooms that normally go for $219 per night can be negotiated down to $19 per night.....and they will throw in a small tent!
Yes, this so called "Survivor Package" buys a room with no bed or headboard (they actually unscrew the headboard and tote it away), you have to bring your linens, towels, pillows, and toilet paper, you can not use the air conditioning or honor bar, and, you are left one light in the bathroom for safety purposes....that's all it takes for a deeply discounted room. Of course, you can add lights for $20 per night, sheets will add another $20 per night and keep adding amenities to get you right back up to the $219 per night....the choices are yours. It's camping without the stars and definitely no s'mores in this room!
What's the catch? The hotel management is hoping that it will lure people who have never visited this luxury resort to come stay and take advantage of the outside services such as spa treatments, a day of golf, dining, in hopes that they will choose to return to this resort in the future at the regular room rates.
I call this creative marketing technique absolutely genius in this economy and look forward to seeing what other hotels around the country do to drum up business. It's nice to have choices and you can find the complete list of survivor rates at www.ranchobernardoinn.com under "specials".
Personally, I'll stick with the full menu, less the breakfast and honor bar.....oh yes.......AND.....ADD THE SPA TREATMENT!
