Advice for Real Estate Agents (Quit Now)

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Realty Specialists Inc.,
..you’re not going to be able to make a living by taking orders, by selling houses the way everyone else does, by using the never-ending rise in real estate prices to make sales, then what are you going to do? Whining is not an option.
The opportunity is to reinvent the way you interact with citizens, with prospects, with the mildly interested and with your past clients. The opportunity, in other words, is to stop waiting around for the phone to ring and instead figure out how to do what you do best... connect buyers and sellers in a way that makes them both confident.
Seth Godin

How do I connect with new people? With a new medium. I embrace it. Google and YouTube have enormous reach. We would rather watch and learn than roll up newspapers and periodicals into the recycle bin.

I totally agree with you David. I have seen successful Realtors disappear in this market and I figured they would be around forever. I believe that along with the new types of technology we must still do the basics, i.e.: open houses, door knocking and local media print/ads.

Thank you for you comments Ed and Michael,

Today is a warm day in Toronto west, 80's and humid. The second week of August with what seems to be the world on Vacation.  But there is no inventory for sale.  So here we are out door knocking on a Friday afternoon before the weekend.

We need to hone the tried and proven but we need to embrace the new. technologies of web 2.0

If you have people coming to Toronto..

I would be pleased to send you Canadian Money ;)  Its prettier

Dave

Hi David,

Loved the Canada Geese honking in the background.  I am to contact our friends in Etobicoke in October.

Subject: Advice: Quit Now - Brilliant (Sent via Activerain)

Hi David--

I was just scrolling through the various entries on activerain and I came across yours: "Advice for Real Estate Agents (Quit Now)". Of course, I couldn't resist. And you knew that, and that's why you choose it. Thought out marketing stands apart from the crowd.

I'm not a realtor but I appreciate the effort realtors have to put into their business. I am, however, a business owner so I can very well relate.

I've been doing real estate photography for years and more recently I've been providing video as more and more realtors are seeking it. I see you have an appreciation for video and you understand the trends. I watched yours and was impressed by the message (maybe not so much by the lighting--someone should have held a large diffuser between you and the sun to soften the light...sorry, it's my business and these things jump out at me). I was wondering if you offer video of your listings? If not, would you consider doing so?

I'll leave it at that and we'll go from there. Let me know what you think.

Keep up the great marketing. I'll have to check out your website as well.

Regards,

Sometimes It is challenging as I am not fettered or blessed with an entourage.

Most times I work with a tripod and a remote control hidden from camera view.

Retakes are easier when I don't need to reset the camera.

As the level of viewship increases I hope that I am able to kick the video production quality up a few notches also.

Thank you and Stay in touch
