We received the following email blast from our MLS about suspicious behavior of a potential buyer. Please use good business practices and common sense when scheduling showings at vacant or secluded properties to strangers...
One of our REALTORS took a call to show a vacant property from a potential buyer with a 704 area code. She asked the seller to meet her at the property. The potential buyer was a no-show even though she called the cell back to say she would wait 20 minutes. She then saw a vehicle across the street take off fast. This suspicious occurrence is a reminder to have someone with you when you show property or meet the person at your office. Get information and let your office know where you are and set up a pre-arranged signal for trouble. When buyers aren't willing to share enough information, be concerned and alert. Remember your training and put safety first. Please let me know if anyone else has had a recent experience that is similar. Be careful out there and make good decisions like the reporting member did.
