Weekly Design Tip #3(late..sorry!)

By
Home Stager with Platinum Home Designs

THERE IS NOTHING MORE SPECIAL THAN YOUR CHILDS ART

So instead of sticking them on the fridge with a magnet, or putting them in a "memory box", take a few of the ones that you love most and frame them.

Or for a really great look, buy an art canvas for your child to paint. You can ask them to paint you a picture with certain colours to match your decor, or just let them paint whatever they want.

Not only does it make your child feel special, but it also makes for a great conversation piece at a FRACTION of the price compared to other art.

Hey Julia,

Thanks, I just loved this! It works for us grandparents too. Thanks for sharing and...why worry about being late, you're the person making a contribution here. Besides we all lead busy lives, right?

I am going to do that!  My daughter is quite the artist and I know if I"commissioned" something from her, she would be thrilled and I'd be the Mom of all Moms!  Thanks for the post.

We've had 2nd grade art framed on the mantle in our living room for 6 years now. Looks like a Chagall. Thanks for your post.

I have taken canvases to homes being staged and had the children in the family do some painting while the rest of us move furniture etc.  This accomplishes two things, 1)kept them out from under foot, 2)made the parents really happy that I was including their children in the process.

I had the control by supplying the paint colors and some times I do a quick sketch to give the kids an idea of what the result should be. Even if they just decoupage pictures that you select, it's their creation and it's just fun.   Usually I stay with something very geometric...easy for them to complete.  I use these in their bedrooms, their bathroom and laundry room to add their pops of color.

Wish that I had photos to share. :-(

You know, Nicola, this isn't just limited to kids (although this blog is, but..). A colleague and myself got together and made up some great abstract paintings ourselves. I use them in my staging and in my own home.

Abstract is great...it's difficult to screw it up!
