How many people actually write their own blogs?

Is it me - or is everyone a blogging expert haha!

I got to hand it to the companies out there writing blogs for others - they do a great job - in fact, they are doing such a good of job that it is obvious that the person they post for did not write them - especially when you go and view their websites. I read postings constantly that it is so obvious that they are written by blogging companies, that it actually takes away from my user experience.

I guess all is fair in love and war, and when everyone is fighting for top rankings on the search engines and content is king, it makes sense that many would outsource this task.

But do they have to make it so obvious? I would lsite examples, but I don't think that's playing nice in the sandbox.

Hm. I am relatively new here ( 3 weeks ) and I didn't realize that blogging was that big of a business venture that people are actually outsourcing the writing of their blog posts. Wow. I can't imagine it.

I pretty much assumed that all blogs I read were written by the owners of that particular site.

I guess I was too naive to think that I needed to write my own posts. Like the phrase you coined: All's fair in love and war ... and blogging?!

I do not know about others, but I like writing and trying to put together words and ideas and photos. I do all my own blogs, like them or not. At one point in life I was a professional journalist, so I take pride in my work.

I had never thought that someone would not write their own blogs.  What's the point - I thought we were supposed to be expressing OUR views or sharing OUR experiences and OUR ideas.

Another irksome thing are the people who post several (or more) posts on the same subject just to get more points.  And then there are the ones who create numerous free websites just so they can link them to ActiveRain and get more points.

It seems like some people will do ANYTHING for points!! Personally, I like writing my own blogs. It can be a challenge, but it keeps me thinking of how I can communicate more effectively.

Hi Michael,
Agree with Kay, if someone else were doing my writing, it sure would be better and get higher rankings and comments.    But, here I sit racking my brain trying to be clever, amusing, informative, resourceful and educational.  Some days I do better than others, but I just keep blog, blog, blogging along.

I've been asked to build a couple of local websites and of course I'm looking at optimizing them since I'm so much smarter now - why make a site without SEO too?  But, I'm drawing the line at writing their blog for them.  I'll coach them on it and monitor for a few weeks...

I know many who don't and it is so obvious when you see some of these postings - it truly does take away from the experience - the best thing you can do is totally ignore those people's postings

This thought never crossed my mind.  I guess in this day and age it's all about getting to the top of the search results.  We are living in a different era now!

Okay now I feel better! Here I had been thinking all along some of these blogs were so perfect, mine seemed pointless. I feel I have a lot to say but am definetly not the best at getting the words out. Thanks again for pointing out that this was happening!

Very interesting post, I guess I didn't really think there would be an industry revolved around writing blogs for others. I would hope that at least the topics that are chosen are at least the ones that belong to the website owner.

I am a horrible writer and an even worse commenter but even knowing this I don't think I would want someone else to write my commentary for me, they don't know me or what I think or even what I want to share with others.
