Happy Moose Monday from Red Lodge, Montana!

This is the follow-up post from last week's: Moose Monday - Bull Moose on the Run in Red Lodge

The following photo will give you a better idea of the size of the Bull Moose.  Just remember they are wild animals and you can hopefully tell from the photo why it is recommended to not get too near any of them.  I captured the photo with the zoom feature of my digital camera.

Love to watch moose. They're just magnificent animals. My only problem is the nearest ones are about 1000 miles away.

John,

They sure a delight to watch from far.  If you miss the moose, you should plan a visit to Montana and to Yellowstone National Park.

They are also very big. I have had one run across the front of my car in Maine and it was a big as a horse, without the saddle. Great shot!

Ed,

Thanks.  You reminded me of an elderly friend of mine who lived in Red Lodge who called her husband to tell him that she had two big and tall horses that were in her front yard and must have run away from their ranch.  She was not wearing her glasses and was new to Red Lodge at the time.  She did not realize that they were actually two big moose grazing in her front yard.  She was surprised to later hear that they weren't horses but two moose and that she was lucky that did not go out while they were near her house.

Gerry -  Yellowstone is one of my favorite places. Saw moose when I was there 3 years ago.  The nearest moose from GA are in NH and VT--saw them there several years ago.

Gerry, That certainly looks like a nice bull moose. We have a bull and cow that wander through my Mom's back yard in Wyoming all the time. I didn't realize how popular that moose have become to the public until I did a post on a store in Park City, Utah. They had all kinds of moose items.

Hi Gerry - He looks quite different than the moose I have in my wallet today. :)

Yellowstone Park got a lot of good coverage when Barack Obama was there earlier this week.  The coverage really stands out when one becomes more familiar with the park via your photography on your recent trip.

When I first moved to NH I was on the look out for moose -- there were a lot of signs that said moose xing... I haven't seen one yet... perhaps that is just as well.  A great photo.

I used to see a bunch of these big lunks when I lived in AK. The dummies would even come up on your porch...

John,

Yellowstone National Park is one of the best places I like to visit.  The northeastern entrance of Yellowstone is only 69 miles from Red Lodge!

Marc,

It must have been a busy weekend in Yellowstone with the President's visit.  I am glad the coverage stood out for you as a result of my photos.  :)

Joan,

Thank you for the positive feedback.  I am sure the moose in NH are there.  Perhaps they decided to stay low and avoid the places where it says moose xing.   :)

Michael,

They are big and they are wild animals even if you saw them come on the porch.  Thanks for dropping by to comment.

Hi Gerry ~ I love moose!  We've got them not that far from here - NH and Maine - and I imagine some parts of Massachusetts but not around here.  It is such a huge treat to see one.
