If I ignore you will you go away?

By
Real Estate Agent with HER Realtors

I am not a fan of "Great Post thanks for sharing" comments.  That's no secret.

If I ignore you will you go away?

anonymous head shot standing in for ActiveRains worst excuse for real estate blogging The absolute worst excuse for real estate blogging on ActiveRain IMHO used to leave a comment on my latest post every day.  It took a long time but I broke her of that habit.

I am sure the absolute worst excuse for real estate blogging is a wonderful person. She is probably a great real estate agent ... a great wife and mother....

She is NOT a good blogger.  I don't want my local posts used for  "great post thanks for sharing" or efficient commenting or even "I will leave a comment on your blog if you will leave a comment on my blog."   I don't know that her comments were "efficient commenting" but they were the generic comments that many on ActiveRain use to get their comment points. I don't want a link to her profile which links to her posts which are just garbage she scraped out of her mailbox (email) with a bunch of comments from her ActiveRain cronies who she "networks" with daily.  Her blog makes the "panty hose poll" look good IMHO.

Her blog.  Her choice.  When she starts leaving her droppings on my blog... I had to discourage it.  I usually ignored the comments.

I probably "asked for it"  I did comment on some of her posts... I even Re-Blogged one of her posts once but when someone questioned why I would encourage her I looked more carefully at her blog.

Ick.

Too late, for months she kept stopping by my blog and leaving a comment on the most recent post. Usually it was a post written to consumers.

categories

I seldom post anything to ActiveRain groups.  Groups are for ActiveRain members.  If I post to peers I will post to groups but most of my content is written for consumers.   Posting local content to groups is asking for the  efficient comments,  the "attaboy" comments, the people who are just commenting for the points IMHO.

I'd rather have my posts comment free.   Thanks!

If I ignore you will you go away?

Back to ActiveRain's worst excuse for a real estate blogger.  An occasional comment would have been one thing.  Earlier this year I was out to breakfast on a Sunday morning telling the story about her crappy comments, that I could set my clock by her.

Sure enough moments later there was a comment from her on my latest local post.

It's "panty hose poll" blogging vs.  hyperlocal blogging.

There are lots of people on ActiveRain who don't get hyper-local blogging and probably never will.   That's OK.  If your Localism posts say:

"hey ActiveRain members do you want to wear pantyhose?"

that's your problem.  It's ActiveRains problem that they have not done a better job in making us as a network understand the difference between blogging to our peers:

"hey ActiveRain members do you want to wear pantyhose?"

and blogging to consumers, a neighboripedia where we talk to the locals not about them and some share more than the joke or urban legend they found in their mailbox.

If I ignore you will you go away?

I broke the absolute worst excuse for real estate blogging of the habit of commenting on my most recent post but it took a lot of work. It took a long time.  Too much.

It stopped a couple of months ago.

I am now closing my posts that are categorized for consumers and trying to remember to go back the next day and open them up.  Consumers (the general public) seldom comment.

Comments turned off

It's not like I don't post things written to my peers on ActiveRain but the absolute worst excuse for reeal estate blogging and her kind leave their comments on the most recent post... not one that might pertain to them.  The next post down could have been something written to my  peers about real estate, a tutorial on posting a poll to your site, about real estate social media but the absolute worst excuse for real estate blogging, would leave a comment on whatever was on top of my blog.  Every morning.

ActiveRain is uniquely suited to hyper-local blogging.  I wonder how Google ranks the stuff ActiveRain's worst excuse for estate blogging scrapes out of her mailbox and posts?

Localism and ActiveRain are a great opportunity to post hyper-local content.

I deleted a number of her comments this morning.  I think I got all the comments that had been left on consumer content.  There was nothing horrible about them.  They mostly were fawning useless comments

"Good post Maureen..I will have to check back to see what people rate as number one...."

"Maureen, I almost feel like I am there! T hanks for the great info on the area :-)  "

"Maureen, another informative post on your little neck of the woods....I will have to get there some day...I know who Id call!"

Two other people in her market do it on my local posts as well.  To a certain extent.

Her comments spanned from December to June. I should have just called her months ago and said knock it off.

There is an unwritten rule that you don't clog up someone's localism posts with crap comments.  She needs to learn it.

Lisa I think in my own little passive aggressive way I made her eventually get the picture because it stopped. "Crap comments"  fits what they felt like... not that they were mean or maliscious.  She just used my latest blog post each morning...  I am sure there were about 9 other member's blogs who she used.

Maureen, of course we are totally curious about the mystery bloggers identity!  I'll bet everyone is scrolling down to see who you've reblogged!

I deleted the Re-Blog long ago.  It was a "cause" post... and I Re-Blogged it despite the members spammy links but more than one person said "why did you Re-Blog that?   "Why are you encouraging that?"

Good grief Maureen, I'm sure I have left a comment on one of your local post only because I was truly interested. I know now to never ever, ever do that again!

But as you know my comments are never canned, I don't like the aftertaste! I perfer fresh.

Your comments are fine Cynthia.  You aren't commenting on blogs to get your daily quota in.   And I love being networked with your blog.  Her blog is just garbage...

I talk right back at you... you could get a ;- ) if I was busy.. or had nothing to say.... you make me talk back to you with your comments.

What do you say back to "Maureen, another informative post on your little neck of the woods....I will have to get there some day...I know who Id call!"

Yikes, wiping the beads of sweat off my forehead now! Oh good Maureen I can still comment on your blog posts, Yippee! I am so over my comment quota today I gotta back to work pronto, I hate paperwork and am procrastinating.

There is really nothing to say except what you have already stated a little :)

One of my friends just had someone start bickering with her in a post.  I told her to delete.  You wouldn't let someone walk into your home and pollute it, "your blog = your home". Delete.

(please don't delete this comment) :)
