The Dominion, Searcy Arkansas's newest subdivision is almost complete.

I wrote the blog below on Feb 25, 2009.  We've had more and more animals come to our house looking for food and perhaps ending up being relocated.  Here's a picture of the gatehouse and entrance to the new subdivision.  Lots are selling and I believe the lowest priced was $56,350 and the highest $74,880, according to our MLS stats.  Dominion entranceTwo houses are under construction with one of them under contract.

Great little cart-paths snake through the area and lead to the golf course at Searcy Country Club.  Landscape artists have been working for months.  It has been good to see so many people employed at The Dominion.

The subdivision is almost finished!

*************

Less than six months ago, the area in front of Searcy Country Club was wooded, filled with soaring pines and deer and skunks and opossums and other wildlife.

Then we noticed heavy equipment out there clearing the area.  Then we noticed surveyors planning roads and a subdivision.  Hubby came home one day and said, "Well, the lots just took a big jump in price because they hit solid rock where they're trying to dig for the sewer lines."

Driving by it each day has been interesting.  Today I snapped a picture of their pretty little gate-house.  It will be Searcy's second gated community and the first with a gate-house.  What the gate-house will be used for is a mystery.  Perhaps it's just looks.

Gated subdivision

It is attractive though!  I love the copper that is shiny and bright right now and the little spires on the top are charming.  I could almost do a sequence of how to build a fence.  They are putting up concrete blocks and then covering with native stone as you can see in this picture.  The name of the subdivision is The Dominion.

It's Searcy's latest and possibly fanciest subdivisions.  I'll be watching its progress and hoping to be able to sell a lot or two!!  If anyone reads my blogs and remembers my skunk hunts you'll understand why the animals came to my house.

Hi Barbara. I hope you are doing well today. The Dominion subdivision does look very attractive I agree. It is amazing some of these planned developments, how well they come together. This one sounds very affordable for Searcy, or pretty much anywhere.

Barbara, Looks like a nice area. My husband does that kind of copper work. I love the look!

Donna, that's interesting that your husband does the copper work.  It doesn't take it long to turn dark, though.  I don't believe anyone could keep it polished.

Maybe they'll put a guard in that gate house who will shoot those who try to crawl over the fence, LOL.

I'm sorry to hear about the construction driving out the animals who used to live there. What do they do about? Do they try to round them up and move them to another location or do they let them wander into people's yards starving for food?

Elizabeth, read this blog from a few days ago.  That is what happens to the animals.  My husband took him to the country and dropped him out.  There are still some woods but not as many as used to be.

Barbara,

I think that woods are disappearing all over. We still have plenty around here but, on a monthly basis, something goes in and trees are cleared.
