eKey for iPhone?

By
Real Estate Agent with Allison James Estates & Homes, Truckee, CA

Input I received this morning from GE Supra.....

We would very much like to provide eKEY on the iPhone. Unfortunately to this point, Apple has not given us the necessary access to the Bluetooth within the iPhone. There have been some recent changes in the iPhone Software Development Kit which may allow us the access we need, but it may require some hardware changes on our end that could be prohibitively expensive. It is our hope to learn more about what our options are within the next few months, and then plan accordingly.

We recognize that the iPhone is a very popular device among real estate agents, and it is our goal to ultimately have an eKEY application that will run on the iPhone. Unfortunately we must work within the framework provided by Apple.

I haven't bothered to check yet, but I was under the impression there is an iPhone application that will allow for downloadinig the property info and showing notices already.  Has anyone investigated that possibility?

In other words we could do everything the other smart phones do except use the iPhone to open keyboxes.

We did have some software here in Orlando that you could put on your Palm Treo, but Supra was charging an extra $10 or so per month to do it.  No thanks.

Gary - I'm patiently waiting for the access to supra... then I'm all over the iPhone.
