Aren't Grandkids just about the best?

In our business (real estate) we are so blessed to have a flexible lifestyle.  Well if we want one that is.  My wife and I spend about all the time we can with our Grand kids.  We have 5.  Four boys and one girl.  One really tough little girl.  We also have another grandson on the way.  He will be our only daughters first.

I have told my kids before when they say we spoil their kids a little too much.  Much more then we spoiled them.  IN fact according to them they were never spoiled for even as much as one or two seconds.  This coming from kids who went away to college, lived off campus, drove a nice car while at school and never had to come out of pocket for any of it.

I tell our kids when they come off with the too spoiled grand kids stuff that if I could have gone straight to the grand kids and skipped them in the process, that would have been an option I just might have chosen.  I wouldn't of course but it never hurts to keep the kids on their toes.

On a recent trip to the school grounds with two of the grandson's we had a great time.  I'd like share their pictures with you.  How could not want to spend all your time with guys like this?

I hope you get to spent time enjoying life with some of your favorite people.

I hear many grandparents say that they wish they could have skipped the step and gone straight to the grandkids, but the problem with that is that the main reason grandparents love and spoil their grandkids so much is because they get to SEND THEM BACK to the parents... if you skipped the step of the parents, there would be no where to send them!

Great post, Bob.  While I still only have just under a handful of years in the biz, I'm beginning to see the benefits of being in real estate.  I think I took my family on 2 trips this summer, and my wife absolutely enjoyed it.  She said this has been her best summer, yet.  She has really desired to do more family things, as our girls have gotten older.  I just hope I can become more successful and diligent in what I do, so we can afford it.  :-)

We also enjoy the benefits of spending time with our grand kids.  We have 9.  Every Monday we watch the youngest one, now 17 months old.  For a while we had 3 of the younger ones on Mondays.  It is fun watching them grow up and explore the world.  Two have recently started school and preschool....but the moments with them are so precious.  There is definately a different love blessing with grand kids.  It is different then the love with your own children.  For my birthday, the children and all the grandkids surprised me and showed up at my house.  It is so rare with everyones busy schedules...that was the nicest birthday for me.  Seeing all of them at the same time!

Hi Donna,  I'm not sure we would ever send them back  We do becasue the parents demend it.  Just this past Thursday afternoon when we had two of the buys, the one in first grade said Papaw since you are picking me up from school tomorrow I might as well spend the night.  I like his logic.  However Mom and Dad has a little different logic.  We are so lucky to be so loved.

Eric,

Just keep doing what you know you should and you will be just fine.  The folks making money in this business today are those who have gotten back to the basics and keep their head down as they plow forward.

If you aren't sure what the basics are.  Read a frw blogs on Active Rain.  All the help you need is right here.

All our kids and grandkids are close by thank goodness.  We tell our kids that if they ever take a job transfer one condition is they must find a way for the whole family to move.  My wife and I can sell Real Estate anywhere, whomever takes a transfer just has to accomodate their two siblings.

We are a pretty close group.
