Eaglewood Bids Adieu and Welcomes the New
Now in it's 20th year, the Eaglewood Folk Festival has been celebrating outstanding Canadian folk music performers in the beautiful and intimate pine tree acreage located in Pefferlaw, ON.
For almost every one of those festivals, Dr. Jackie Washington, a long time Hamilton musician, has been on hand to deliver delightful songs and whimsical stories to friends and audiences young and old. Jackie passed on peacefully on June 27 of this year, and to honour his memory and his many years at Eaglewood, the festival will be rededicating the evening concert stage as The Jackie Washington House Stage in a ceremony on opening night.
Eaglewood continues to present a range of performers poised to break nationally. One such act is The Good Lovelies. This charming trio of women reminiscent of The Andrews Sisters got a standing ovation encore at their Sunday night appearance at the Mariposa Folk Festival this year. Another band is Tom Wilson's (of Blackie & The Rodeo Kings) new acid-folk project LeE HARVeY OsMOND. Our one international act this year is American songwriter Jonathan Byrd, making his only Ontario festival appearance this summer at Eaglewood. To help us celebrate the 20th anniversary, the founding Artistic Director, Cheryl Gaudet, will be returning to perform at the festival. Rounding out the bill are Kinnie Starr, Digging Roots, Mr. Something Something,Run with the Kittens, Annabelle Chvostek, Eve Goldberg, Jory Nash and many more.
