Parowan Gap Petroglyphs................

By
Real Estate Agent with Aubrey and Associates Realty

I know that it is supposed to be speechless Sunday, but I just had to include one of the more famous draws to our area.  The Parowan Gap Petroglyphs, they date back hundreds of years and experts have offered several opinions as to what they mean.  I like the explanation that it is some sort of ancient planetarium with the glyphs indicating changes of the seasons anyway here are some of the photos:

These are in a fenced in area.  To get there go west from 400 North Main Street in Parowan about 11 miles.  Enjoy this facinating trip back in time and culture!

Tony & Darcy,

These images are mindboggling. Somewhere there is a key to history, we just donot know where to look for. One day we will find it

Tony & Darcy - I have seen this type of stuff around Nevada and the biggest place I ever saw this type of stuff was in New Mexico.

In New Mexico there are drawings of Space Ships, Alien faces, Rockets and more. Like Olga stated they may be keys to history!

Olga: this is true, they may have the keys to history

Vegas Bob: I have seen some in New Mexico, there is some over by Moab that have either a Wooly Mammoth or an elephant in them.  I have not seen the alien looking ones.

Fascinating pictures.  My daughter and her family just returned from a vacation in Utah, and was quite fascinated with the Escalante Grand Staircase, Zion, Bryce, and The Narrows.

Sandra: you should go and see them.  It isn't a bad drive out there.

Myrl: I hope that your daughter and her family had a good time.  There is some beautiful scenery to see out here!

Those are well preserved.  We actually have petroglyphs in Hawaii too.  How do we know it's not just ancient graffiti?

Caron: Your welcome.  It is a beautiful area.

Georgina: I have wondered that myself!  I had heard of petroglyphs in Hawaii and wished that I would have gone and seen them when we were there!
