With new home sales continuing to climb in the majority of U.S. markets, new real estate licensees are entering an industry that continues to experience a surge in activity.
According to numbers released by the U.S. Commerce Department, the sale of newly built, single-family residences increased 11% in June of this year, marking the third consecutive month of improved sales volume.
“This is good news that indicates the nation’s housing market may be in the process of turning the corner, stated Joe Robson, chairman of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). He stressed that since housing can be a significant generator of good jobs, we should make it a priority in our process of economic recovery.
The substantial gain in residential sales in recent months was reflected in three out of four regions which helped reduce the inventory of new homes listed for sale to its lowest level in years. Sales rose by double-digits in the Northeast (29.2%), Midwest (43.1%) and West (22.6%).
In fact, according to an August 4 report from the National Association of Realtors (NAR), pending home sales are up for the fifth consecutive month – the first time in six years for such a streak.
Also, as of June 2009, the number of newly constructed residences on the market for sale declined for the 26th month in a row. Decreasing, nationwide housing inventories are proof that buyers are no longer sitting on the sidelines.
Factors like the $8,000 first time home buyer credit, lucrative incentives for green home amenities, historically low mortgage interest rates and a good selection of affordable homes are powerful reasons to buy.
