Getting Enough Exercise Helps Realtors

By

We have all heard the stuff about our health - eat right and get enough exercise.  So what does that all mean?  To me it has really shown up in my day to day work as a Realtor.  Since we are usually sitting at a computer in a nice cool office I generally only get to move to and from the coffee pot.

Last week an old client of mine e-mailed me from a few miles away.  He was in town from California and was just a few miles away at his daughter's house.  They wanted to look at homes again.  Their children are here and California does not hold much for them right now.

There are so many great homes on the market right now.  We went at the search from morning to late afternoon.  Of course, they came into town on the hottest days of this summer - also the most humid! Well even with a cool air conditioned car we did get to go through some unairconditioned homes. Any makeup I had on melted.

So how does this relate to exercise?  In February I decided that my athletic past was just that - a thing of the past.  I had to get moving - walking can get a bit repetitive and uninteresting.  Hey, I love to dance! So I found a Jazzercise class near me with all kinds of hours to attend. Depending on my appointments I can go to class early am to late pm.  I survived the first month! After 6 months I am in the grove.  This is no longer exercise, it is FUN!  With stretching, bending and just keeping up to the music I improved my cardio and strength - plus took off over 10 lbs.

While I was out on that very hot and humid day with my clients I realized that all the the moving and grooving at Jazzercise had a super affect on my ability to not collapse in that heat.  We did not over exert but I got through two days of it without passing out.

Just a thought on how to stay ahead of the curve.  We have new technology all around us that we learn every day but heading the words "eat right and get enough exercise" made a difference in my ability to carry on my work as a Realtor.

I try an get out and walk or get on the treadmill at least 2 times a week. Its hard to get in the grove and easy to stay.

Caryl:  A friend of mine has been trying to get me into Jazzercize.  Your description makes me want to sign up now.  I could certainly use some exercise.
