Hello Fellow Agents!
We are all doing as much work as we have always performed in the past, but the results are somewhat different these days. Does anyone else feel it? Most agents that know a thing or two about this business career we have chosen for our means of income to feed our children, pay the mortgage, or for those school projects, or the fees for your child to particpate in athletics or band, you know those things that we care alot about. Well, it seems to be a longer term deal to clear the bank these days. I'm not complaining. Not yet, anyway. Stay with me.
I love my business! I dont know too many people who can honestly say that. Most people have a job. A job that they feel they are 'stuck' with. I dont feel that way. This is a dream come true for me. To be my own boss and be in charge of my destiny, my future. You gotta love it. I do! I dont like that saying, sky's the limit, because it sounds too boastful, or arrogant to me. No, I'm not saying I dont want to be financially rich, of course I would. Just like any other person would that values family, friends, others who are suffering and going without. To have enough, extra to help someone today, thats what I'm talking about. To show the Love of God. Especially the little children in our rich country that go without a meal tonight. My Father wasnt well to do. But he always made sure we had what ever we needed for the rent, food, school, sports, or other school activities. And we got to share a part of our life with him. He instilled in me the value of respecting someone else's property.
This brings me to the reason behind this blognosis of mine. I held open house this weekend at two separate homes, one in South Orange County and the other right here in town of Murrieta,Ca. I, like you, spend hours preparing for the event the night before. The flyers, surrounding inventory, my open house signs and flags, the guest registry book, and the cookies, oh my gosh, dont forget the cookies!
After a long 'normal' weekend of open houses, I finish up at the home, lock it up, check all locks and windows, and proceed to picking up my signs and flags. I get to the next to last sign and the upper portion of my flag is missing. The part with the actual flag. I look all around the four corners, walking each side for the lost item, and then it hits me, 'well now isnt that just swell'? Someone felt the need to take it. As if it means nothing to that individual to take someone else's property. Man sakes alive, I tell you it just upsets me like you can not believe. Yeah, you're probably right, it was probably some kid showing off to his or her peers. But to think that it is alright to do that is just beyond me. It's not the money, it's not about having to replace it, it's about that person having such low values or concept of values. And no this isnt the first time either.
I guess there is really nothing I can do about it. It's my own fault, I didnt install any cameras or hire a security person to watch over my flags. I guess I deserved this to happen. And I should count my blessings as they only took one, this time!
In conclusion, if you're out there and you happen by any agents signs and flags or stuff, and you see anything funny going on around it, step out and help out! The police wont do anything for us because it's such a small value item, and I'm not putting them down, they have much more important things to do than worry about my/our darn flags. But maybe we can watch out for each other when we can. Thats all. I needed to vent, so there it is.
Anyway, I guess I need to hear this more than you guys this time, 'Courage for the Journey'!
