Website or Blog?

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with The Briles Company

So our agents are trying to decide whether it is better to have a website or a blog...what are your thoughts?

To me, the website is more for branding and a "go to" center while a blog is ever-changing and a better tool for keeping people coming back for new information.

Sure, you can have both in one, but if you were looking at choosing a company to help you create one or the other, which one would you suggest?

Also, let us know who your favorite company, website, and/or blog is!

Thanks for sharing your input!  Can't wait to share with others!!

HONESTLY they are one and the same .. a blog can be a website or a website can have a blog page.

Lauren - is it still possible to have a site with a blog as a core, and all the other links and elements of a website?

We have 5 websites and 1 blog site- we have different posts that link them all together.  I get many more leads from my website, infact, I think I have only got one lead form my blog...but who knows, maybe I am going about it all wrong.

Thank you for all of your quick responses!!  Eric, I agree that they can be one in the same.

Olga, that is what we are trying to truly decide!  thanks for your great question!

Christine & Jennifer, thanks for the input!  Do you have SEO for either or all of the sites and blog?  What do you think the attraction to your website is?  The property search feature?

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU ALL!!

How about putting 2 blogs on 1 website?

Works for me, anyway.

I have a blog, actually several, and no website.  My frustration is I cannot track visitors...

I have a website that actively finds buyers.  Yesterday, I had 14 people register leaving their name, phone number, and email address.  Tomorrow I will call the people that registered last week (about 50-60) and hopefully unearth some legitimate buyers (I usually do).

I get about 3000 vistors per month, 40,000 page views.  That means my information is really getting some great exposure.

I think you really need to have both. Right now I have a z57 website but also blog on Active Rain and have AR framed into my site.  I plan to get an outside blog soon and I do believe that SEO is highly important. If you don't have the time or knowledge to do it yourself then hire someone who does.  I've heard alot about wordpress lately- it's both a blog and a website and it's free. Perhaps check that out?

I can set up a FSBO site like mine for you.

Inexpensive.
