ReBlogging Is Not Cheating - It Is Sharing And Compliments The Original Blog Post!

By
Real Estate Agent with Better Homes and Gardens Rand Realty

You might question why someone would want to reBlog another writer's work.  What good could it possibly do you to repeat someone's post in a different location? ReBlogging is a valuable tool provided through ActiveRain.  Read on if you want to know why.....

Sharing In The RainOne of the reasons many of us blog is to share information with the rest of the members and with the world in general.  ActiveRain Bloggers share all the time.  There are so many great tutorials, reviews of new technology and programs, marketing ideas, life advice, etc.  When I see something particularly interesting I like to reBlog it for my readers.  I can't tell you how many times I have gotten a comment that thanked me for letting someone see something that they might have otherwise missed.  It is satisfying to pass on good information.

Many people might wonder how a reBlog can help you in your business.  I tell you that a reBlog of consumer related posts can gain you prospects by osmosis.  Someone else's good information will be valuable to someone reading your blog.  It is important to personalize your reBlog by providing your own commentary at the top of the page when you hit reBlog.  This will allow you to customize the blog post to your region if needed and to thank the original writer of the post.

After you hit the reBlog button go back and edit the post.  At this time you can tag it, send it out to your Groups, and add it to your Outside Blog if you are a RainMaker. This step will get the post out to a wider audience.  It is a step that many do not know to do or realize is even possible.

ReBlogging is not stealing the original Blogger has given their permission by allowing it.  ReBlogging is not the lazy Bloggers way to get ahead, trust me some of the most active Bloggers here reBlog all the time.  ReBlogging is a way to spread that ActiveRain to others and to put someone else's good thoughts to work for you.  Oh and BONUS for those of you interested in points you get 25 points for each reBlog!

Now Go Out In The Rain And Feel Free To ReBlog - It Is A Good Thing!

Paddy - Very informative post.  Providing expert commentary on your blog (especially if it is about something you are not an expert in) can really help your readers.  I really have to do this more.

Paddy - Great stuff.  I was happy to see that you added the step about editing the post once you have re-blogged it.  I bet most people didn't know that it was possible.

I think that reblogging is a great way to get an idea to your followers if there is an idea that you wish to share. It is also a great way to take an idea and expand it.

Paddy, great information and I think reblogging is a great way to share on your blog info that you might not feel comfortable enough to write about.  I prefer to reblog loan officer posts and leave them the experts in their field.

I would like to point out that there is an 'INTRODUCTION SECTION' on the reblog that should be used.  I think that you should recap why you picked this post and how it will help or educate the reader.  Say thanks to the original writer too.

Paddy...  Great points, well stated.  There are many posts that are so well-done that they should be re-blogged so their information can get even wider dissemination.  I think you're right that it helps the re-blogger, it helps their constituents, and is complimentary to original blogger.  Re-blogging is a great Active Rain tool that I don't think would have been implemented if the staff didn't realize the mutual benefits for the entire community.  Someday I hope that I'll even write something that gets re-blogged.

Paddy,

Great reminder for all of us. Reblogging has plenty of benefits for the original blogger and the reblogger, and then the readership out there. All around winner.

I have re-bogged a few times my self. Consumers may have not have had access to important info, like Realtors have with our updates and subscriptions. On the most part, it is our job to educate our customers on local happenings, customs, and procedures

This was very good information - you sure clarified it for me.  I just had 2 of my posts re-blogged and was so honored by it and recently saw a post that i received permission to re-blog.  Your post has shown me how to do it now!  Thanks much!

Diane

That's the idea Natalie.

Rainmaker's will benefit from reBlogging consumer posts that will help their clients, Christine.

Good for you Tina.

ReBlogging is not that Glenn, it is not plagiarism if the original author gives permission by allowing the reBlog and if you reBlog using the method set up by the AR staff.  Cut and Paste is out whether it is a good or bad post because that is stealing not using something with permission.  You are notified if your post has been reBlogged and can review what was done on the blog of the person who did it.

Interesting Damon.  Since I have a signature at the bottom of my posts it is the last thing that my readers see on a reBlog.  It does not bother me to have the original posters info there at all because for the most part they do not opperate where I have my business.

You can go back and hit edit not to change the post but to send the post out to your groups, localism, and you outside blog if you have one Lori.  It helps to distribute the reBlog further.

So true Renae

Technically the permission to reBlog is granted with every post that the writer does not uncheck the box allowing reBlog Sharon.

A Harley Huh?

That calls for a song :)

P.S. The only problem I have with reBlogging is when I see a Members Blog made of solely the content of another Blogging. That's cheating :)

TLW...ROAR!

Crap...

Can't fix typos after posting the music.

That should read "the content of another Blogger" :)

P.S. Not sure why, but when I try to edit, the HTML code disappears into rain heaven :)
