Personal Marketing Idea - Tip of The Week!

By
Real Estate Agent with Jaclyn Smith Properties

If you read my last Tip of The Week, you already know how much emphasis I recommend you place on growing your website with low-cost, high-touch marketing strategies. In that same vain, I offer this week's marketing Tip of The Week.

Summer is here and families love opportunities to participate in kid-friendly activities. A couple of weekends ago I took my grandchildren (I know - I don't look old enough to have a 2 year old grandson and a 4 year old grandson-Believe that and your a candidate for some land I'm selling in South Florida-hip boots required!) to the Animal Planet Expo at Cary's SAS Soccer Stadium. Of course the place was mobbed with kids up to my armpits! It made me think, this area is totally starved for family-friendly activities. I'll bet your area is suffering from the same malaise.

What's The Solution?

What could real estate service providers do as a low-cost event that would yield a big-bang for your buck? Then it dawned on me - Host a Friday Night at the Movies in your farm neighborhood! If your neighborhood or community has a park or open space where you can set-up a movie projector, sheet or screen, and small sound system, you have the instant ingredients for a large time! If you prefer, to help defray the cost, invite a partner to co-sponsor the event. Be sensitive to your neighbors. Make sure the event can be held as to not disturb those nearby. Invite your community and instruct those attending to be sure to bring lawn chairs, blankets, bug-spray and a beverage. Advertise (in your neighborhood newsletter of course) that you will provide the fun, a family-friendly movie and popcorn (plus MORE).

Kick-it up a Notch!

Make it a themed movie night. Encourage kids to dress-up in one of the movie's characters. Have a contest and award the winners prizes (by age group!). Provide balloons, a face painter, a magician or clown.

Kodak Moments!

Use the opportunity to takes lots of pictures and video and of course add it to your website. Be sure to include a sign pointing the families to your web address to view the photos/videos from the event. FYI...if your website address isn't at least 30% of your ad, your missing a golden opportunity to drive people to your website.

I'm Not An Attorney Disclaimer-As with any public broadcast event, check with royalty issues for broadcasting copy-written material. In this case, you are not charging to attend the movie, so you should be OK with regards to public broadcast.

You now have your assignment, but there is a catch! You must agree to post your event here (and Localism) so we can all enjoy the photos and videos!

If you choose to accept this assignment, this post will self destruct in 5 seconds.....Poof!

Have Fun!

Couple good ideas that jumped right out at me.  One is pointing people to my website.  I have to work on that.  Thanks for the tip.

Great tips, thank you!  I also use a real estate sticker from www.realestatesticker.com.  I know some people think its tacky, but it really works and looks awesome.  I used a coupon code MLS10121 and it takes 15% off the entire order.  Should still work.
