Heaps Peak Arboretum Native Plant Sale ~ Labor Day Weekend
This Labor Day Weekend, here in the San Bernardino Mountains, our HEAPS PEAK ARBORETUM will be having a NATIVE PLANT SALE. Don't miss this if you're into nature and love learning about flowers, scrubs and trees that are native to this area. Of course one of my favorites is the beautiful dogwood tree! (picture above compliments of Heaps Peak Arboredum)
When you stop at the The Heaps Peak Arboretum, you'll want to check out the Kiosk, which is the center to get information, not only for the Arboretum, but for our entire San Bernardino Mountain area. You'll find pictures that show (and explain) the flowering plants of the Arboretum.
The Kiosk is the only place where you can actually view the infamous western pine beetle, those nasty little insects that caused the pine tree die-off situation here in the mountains of Southern California.
Don't just stop by to purchase plants, though...go for a gentle hike on the Sequoia Trail, which has been redesigned and has been lengthened to about one mile and is accessible to the physically challenged. Since the "steps" have been removed it is easier for all visitors to walk, especially families with young children in strollers and the elderly.
