Chicago "The Windy City is beautiful!"

I recently was an attendee for the Greenbrier Valley Board for a Leadership conference in Chicago Illinois. This was my first time to Chicago and I must say I was impressed. It is not hard to impress someone from our area with just the amount of traffic alone. After our meetings and sessions I took advantage of being a true tourist about Chicago.

I will tell you that the Navy Pier is something that you have to see. It has the carnival feel to it, much like our State Fair here in West Virginia. They offer a number of places to eat and spend the evening with friends, right on the board walk. You can sit in a number of the great places and enjoy Seafood, Ice Cream and don't forget the hot dogs. You can also go a number of different boat tours. The tours are quite reasonable and they are a great experience. Hint take the evening tour around 7:30 it is great to see the city at dusk and watch the lights fill the sky from the buildings and street lights.Navy Pier

On your way to Navy Pier you can walk on the "River Walk" which is very nice. You will be passed by Joggers, Bikers, and plenty of people walking around. Head over to the Shearton Hotel side and take a look a  the fountain and water feature on that side of the walk. It is something to see, the water feature that sprays all the way across the river, comes on every hour. If you take a boat ride you may be lucSears Tower(Willis) ky enough to see it on the water!River Walk

I will tell you that for me be being from a small town with two red lights.(we could get away with one!) I was quite impressed with the city and the city lifestyle. I will tell you be ready to walk and walk a lot! But it is so worth it to experience all that Chicago has to offer. If you go don't miss all the great attractions around the "Miracle Mile". Make sure you go to the Sears Building, which will now be called the Willis Building. (But everyone will still call it the Sears Building!) Don't forget to do some shopping  in all the great stores that line Michigan Avenue and the Loop.

I would also recommend the "Art Institute of Chicago"," Millenium Park", and don't forget the great restaurants!

It was a very enjoyable trip and the attractions and the sites are well worth the effort. I don't know when I will be back to the "Windy City" but I must say it will always be something for me to remember. I hope everyone gets a chance to enjoy and experience Chicago.

Keith, great article on your trip to the Windy City...Chicago.  I've been there a couple of times, and find it exciting as well.
