HELP! I need a name.

By
Home Stager with Becky Fields Home Staging and ReDesign

Everyone has been a great help in the past.  I hope I can get some help now.

I am looking into changing my business name to reflect that I not only stage homes but do redesigns as well.  So far I have only marketed in my city but I am looking into branching out into other cities close by.  Everything will stay the same, (same biz cards just new name, same website address, same me)  just the name change.  OK, so here is where I need input.

Right now I am STYLED TO SELL.  I was thinking STYLED TO SELL OR DWELL, but it doesn't sound right.  So, I am looking at changing it to either...

  • INSTYLE HOME STAGING AND REDESIGN
  • HOME STYLE CONSULTING AND REDESIGN

I want to use style because  just like a hair stylist or a clothing stylist,  we give homes "style". (My other option was Style Maker but I decided I didn't like the way it rolled off the tongue)

So which one sounds better?

Thanks for any and all input,

Becky Fields - Home Stylist

Well, if you are staging you need Staging in the name.  To me, the 2nd one dosent say you are a Stager, it makes me think "decorator".  EEK!  LOL.

I just changed my company name and what a challenge it has been.  My only suggestion is to pick a name where you can get a web site & email with the same name as your company -- then it is one less thing for your clients to have to rememebr :)

Good Luck!

I noticed your website was IStyleHouses.com so I thought of:

              ~ Style House ~

Home Staging and Redesign... With Style!

that automatically incorporates your website.

Hi Becky,

I to wanted style in my name so I chose " AZ Home Styling & Redesign" and my tag line is "Complimenting your style" (How funny, I'm working on taking off the redesign part on my name) I will be just "AZ Home Styling." How about; "Field's Styled to Sell & Redesign"

In Style Staging & Design is cool, lol cause thats my company name.

There is an InStyle Staging already in the US. I came across it long ago when i was trying to choose a company name.

www.instylestaging.com

Maybe do a name search on google, to see if any of the names come up. Or do a domaine name search. Its free.

Thanks everyone for your input.  After talking with friends and associates of different groups I belong to, I have decided to use just my name and what I do as recognition. Thanks Nicola for the suggestion.

I chose this over the other suggestions because even a good friend introducing me to someone this morning at a Chamber event, forgot my business name. (She introduced me as, "This is my friend Becky Fields and she stages homes for sale".  Well at least she knows what I do)

So I am now...Becky Fields Home Staging and ReDesign.

Hi Becky - Good choice... sometimes I think the names get too "cute", start sounding similar to everyone else and can be hard to remember - so that's why I just go by my name.

Hi Becky - Just a couple of questions:

How long have you had your present name?

Do you have a tagline?

If you have had your business name for a while you might consider using a tagline.  Professionals recommend that you do not change your name if you have already created a business license and other legal mum jumbo details.

That being said, Becky Fields Home Staging (name)

and tagline:  We style to sell!

Sounds good! (smile).

Margaret,

I have had this name for 6 months and my tag line was "Whether your house is to sell or to dwell;Styled to Sell can make it look swell"

Reason I decided to change it was because people knew who I was and what I did but didn't remember business name.  In addition, I was the organizer of our business tarde show and now everyone in my city knows who I am so I decided to just use my name as recognition (as suggested by Nicola).

At my Entrepreneur meeting this morning (the group who hosted the Trade Show I organized), they thought it was great that I am featuring myself in my business name because now everyone knows me.

Thanks Becky,

I am just getting started and I am trying to pick a name - but don't know if I will do just staging, I live upstate NY and there isn't much to stage in the dead of winter.  Only snow to shovel - not sure I can work snow shoveling into my tag line!  After reading everyone input I think I will just go with my name and then a tag line also.  Thanks for the Blog!

By the way my name is also Becky, I have worked as the store visual with several furniture companies - one sales man pegged me with the name "The Becorator", it stuck for awhile - but I was lucky to finally shed it!!  Your welcome to it!! LOL

Two rules of thumb...you should be able to get a good domain name w/it, AND it shouldn't sound like a nail salon.

Also, whatever you decide on, use it EVERYWHERE and be consistent.

I agree with Susan, #1 Look for a domain name not used #2 Explain what you do in a FEW words  #3 We are in a super creative business - so DON'T sound like a magazine, another business, or a TV show!!!
