Thank you for your comment and feedback on the CDPE course. I'm registering to take it myself.  I was doing the research and figure I would post the difference between the SFR and the CDPE course.

Thanks again.

Way back when (in 2008 or was it 2010?) I took the CDPE course and was a certified CDPE.  I kept up the designation for several years but then they stopped teaching about short sales... so I stopped paying the CDPE renewal fee each year.

Every year I have been doing at least 2 short sales since then.  It seems to me that short sales may be increasing with the number of people losing their jobs and possibly their homes.

So I finally took the SFR course.  I paid for it last July when it was on sale for $91.  It took the class yesterday and thankfully passed the exam.  It was informative because it explained about the various kinds of short sales and how they differ.  For the money it was worth it.

Having said all of that, I firmly believe the best school for short sales is the school of hard knocks.

I actually was mentored by someone at Coldwell Banker Select who really knew her stuff.  If you can find someone to teach you and answer your questions, you will be way ahead of the game.
