Fall in in the air, the skies are bright blue and the tips of the maple tress are just beginning to turn a warm yellow color. Before long Lake Norman will be ablaze with every possible shade of red, orange and yellows with a few evergreens mixed in. I took this photo last year when celebrating a recent rain storm that brought much needed water to our lake.
Ah..it's starting all ready.. FALL...is upon us... although (with 4 kids home from school) it is the happiest time of the year )
Diane--We are starting to see a bit more color as our temps were below normal this week. I love the beautiful colors of fall but hate to think summer is over. :)
Diane - our leaves are just starting to show a tinge of color around the edges... won't be long now. And fall is probably my absolute favorite season ... all the color and change ... forces us to get renewed!
Morning Diane, You really captured the essence of fall in your beautiful shot! Funny how the above commenter stated it looked liked an artist canvas, I used similar colors in a recent painting.
Thanks for sharing this Diane. For those of us who don't get fall - and miss the gloreous splender of the colors we have to get via this way. Gorgeous!
I love driving north to see the fall colors. My favorite Arizona fall color siting is a place called Sycamore Creek. Your pictures are a gorgeous reminder that I need to go soon.
Diane - this is beautiful. Hard to believe we are talking about fall now. Our leaves are starting to change as well, although we don't quite get the blaze of color other folks do.
Jeff
Hi Diane, Those are some amazing colors and this picture is definetly worth a thousand words. Where did summer go already. Growing up in the midwest, fall was one of my favorite times of year. Football, plans for the upcoming holidays, cooler weather and the sheer beauty of the changing colors.
I saw the first tree turning yellow two days ago - eeekkk! It's early it feels. ~Rita
Hey, Diane. What a beautiful photo. I noticed one of our trees turning the other day. Yeah, it is time for fall. Thanks for sharing, Jim
Dianne, I love that photo, it's almost like Jackson Pollock! I hope you are enjoying a good Labor Day Holiday!
I also love the photo what an amazing mix of color. I'm still not ready for fall.
Diane, The colors are spectacular. Funny that I've only seen a few trees starting to change--either that or I just don't want to see it! I'm not ready for fall and certanly not winter.
Diane - As you know being a past resident of Cali, you just don't get these kinds of fall colors anywhere. I can only imagine the beauty of these fall colors mirrored off of pristine Lake Norman. I can picture myself looking out over the lake from one of your lake side homes over the water taking in the colors on an autumn sunrise. Okay I better stop! I DO NOT want to move AGAIN!
Diane,
Sounds like it's going to be a beautiful fall, and soon. Thanks for the preview from last year. :)
Steve
Those leaves, and the colors, look like sweetgum, Liquidamber styraciflua. It's the only tree here that turns color in the fall, so people like to plant them everywhere, but they can really be messy trees.
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! Unusual colors for August in my neck of the woods, normal for Lake Norman?
