Ok, I'm not naming names here, or addresses for that matter... but there IS one house three doors down from mine that has carpet impersonating their lawn. I'm talking the really plush carpet that make your feet feel like they're in heaven when they sink into it. It has the look of being freshly vacuumed, complete with perfectly beveled edges. I mean, there is not a single blade of grass that would even dare lean over the edge of the sidewalk to soil the perfectly geometrical image of this corner lot. And what makes it all even more mysterious... I've never seen anyone mow it.
We moved to Lake Sundance recently, and the neighbours have been great. They go out of their way to be friendly, and they even let us join in on a summer block party. But I get the feeling some of them are a little competitive. . . Well so... Am I. Just ask my old neighbour Dennis.
So I've been out there reaching for the bar that sets the height of proud suburban lawn maintenance. Watering at night to make sure not a drop goes to waste evaporating in the mid day sun ...testing out different mower heights to find the optimum in green. I even put my 25 year old Craftsman electric mower out to pasture. (Well actually it told me it was time by throwing parts of itself at me, as the poor old machine began to self destruct). We're now the proud owners of a cordless electric mower with rechargeable batteries. If I really want to get my green on, there's even a solar charger available on special order for the new mower.
But the key here ladies and gentlemen... from what I have observed - is the trimming. I've been working diligently to determine the precise technique that gives the lawn that perfectly straight beveled edge. Any suggestions? I'm open to them.
Wait... what's that? I think I just heard something land on the neighbours' lawn.
