Rob Miller for Congress - "Defeating the man who yelled 'liar'"

"Representative Wilson's behavior tonight exemplifies everything that is wrong in Washington," Democrat Rob Miller said in a statement provided to CNN. "Instead of engaging in childish name-calling and disrespecting our Commander-in-Chief, Joe Wilson should be working towards a bipartisan solution that makes quality, affordable health care available to each and every South Carolinian - CNN Political Ticker

I'd never heard of Rob Miller before last night's fiasco, but now that I know there's a viable candidate to oust Wilson, I'm excited to learn more about this prospect.

Rob Miller (born in Charleston and now living in Beaufort) is a retired Marine who served two tours in Iraq as a captain. Miller says his priorities are improving the economy and scrapping unfair trade deals, balancing the budget and providing better access to health care. He says he also wants to focus on education.

Apparently within eight hours of Wilson's disgraceful outburst, Rob Miller received nearly 3,000 individual contributions raising approximately $100,000.

I think we're about to hear a lot more about Rob Miller as he challenges Joe Wilson in next year's election.

Maybe Miller should hire Wilson as his fundraiser.  What a blunder!

I'm not sure another Blue Dog Dem helps Obama much.

Stewart, I'm on board with a donation. I donated to Tinklenberg hoping he would defeat that nutbag Bachman.  And I  never donate to political campaigns.  Thanks for the heads up.  I think Wilson may have cooked his own goose, unless of course the people of SC approve of that kind of conduct!

Hi Stewart ~ I swear I just heard that contributions to his campaign today totalled $500k (but I'm always reading or typing with the TV on so I could be wrong).  I did hear that his seat was moved to "in play" in terms of the next election.

Updated to add - when I used the link above to donate Rob Miller's balance was heading towards 600k  (not sure how much from today).  And I too donated to Tinklenberg - and would happily do so again - despite the fact that Bachman provides so much entertainment.

Hi Stewart... this has been all over the news today.  If behavior like this doesn't call Wilson's judgement into question by any rational American, then there is something very fundamentally wrong.

Joe Wilson is obviously worried about Rob Miller as a potential opponent in 2010.

Within 24-hours of Wilson's outburst, Miller has raise over $350,000 in donations from concerned Americans.

In response, Wilson has released an online video asking supporters for campaign cash.

Every day the Republican party becomes smaller.  The ultra conservative far right fringe is now the main stream Republican party. The louder the "birthers" and "teabaggers" become the smaller and more fringe the Republican party becomes. Moderate Republican are running away in droves. The Republican party has become the neo-Confederate party.

Drudge has a donation button for Wilson * I'm sending $$$.  He made a comment in the heat of the LIES about health care to be provided for ILLEGAL immigrants * good for him!!!  I hope he gets the $$$ he needs and returns to congress......Having been born in SC, we have a saying.....Save your Confederate Money, Honey! The SOUTH will Rise Again!!!

I disagree with Mitchell * America is RIGHT of CENTER.....

Wilson is up to $750,000 since his shout out.  Looks like he's getting lots of support.

While I don't approve of what Wilson did, at this point, I could care less.  Obama did lie...several times.  Read the bill.

Interestingly right after that obama started making statements about legalizing all the folks who broke our laws and came here illegally!  Certainly that is one way to go, but how do us tax payers manage to keep giving freebies to the world?

We are out of money.

Additionally, the CBO stated that yes indeed, HB3200 cuts the benefits of not only Medicare, but Medicare Advantage!  I believe the numbers were in the $500,000,000,000+ figure.  Obama lie #2.

Someone who can do simple math please show me how you can cover 30,000,000 to 46,000,000 more people, cover everyone for everything with no limits, give 50% or more of the public entirely free healthcare, yet do it for less?   Are we that stupid to believe such lies?

Why aren't the elitist politicians putting them and their families on this plan?  They dance all around that question every time they are asked! LOL

It came out yesterday, from a Dem, that the penalty for not paying for insurance is Jail time and/or $25,000 tax penalty.  Yes, the IRS will be in charge of collecting this tax and penalties.  It is written in the bill to alter the IRS code.
