That's a lovely picture! I like cemetaries....creepy maybe...but the connection to the past and the present is particularly acute there.
Beautiful. I love old cemetaries because they often made beautiful art to remember their loved ones.
Karen and June, I love cemeteries too, particulary the very old ones. Nisky Hill gravesites are laid out under beautiful old oak trees, and it's a great place for photography. Genealogy is a favorite hobby, and I do love the cemeteries, even though my family thinks they're creepy too.
Looks like this peice of art is slowly blending into the scenery/greenery -- or is that just what my eyes are seeing?
Jim, the green algae on the angel makes it look like she's blending in with the trees. There are a lot of gravestones that I would restore with some extra time and expertise, but I like this angel just the way she is.
One of the best tours I ever took was a tour of the cemetaries in New Orleans. I've only been able to find one cemetary out here, but it's a huge one. Eventually I'd like to go take a walk around it and take some pictures but it will probably take a weekend to walk the whole cemetary.
Sallie,
Cemetaries, especially old ones with artwork like this, are a favorite. I love your angel.

Thanks, Mike. I took this picture just a few hours before my Mom passed away, making it extra special for me. Thanks for stopping by, and have a great day.
