The car was horrendous, Glad to hear the passengers were able to survive...
Tammy, thankfully no one was seriously hurt. Bet the other car looked just as bad.
Wow Tammy-The kids were very lucky thank goodness. Thank you for sharing this. It is a reminder for sure. Hope you are doing better. You are in my prayers.
Tammy, it is a good thing that your kids weren't hurt! It is amazing how safe cars are nowdays! It is a wake up call though!
I am sure glad you didn't just leave us hanging with that picture. One of my best friends in college was killed in an accident by a wrong-way driver on a freeway exit ramp. He was just a sophomore. Ever since I saw the car, especially after knowing that he was exiting the freeway at about 30 mph while she was going up it, I have great respect for what cars can do to each other and the people within. Glad your family was basically okay, considering the looks of the car.
You are very fortunate that your children were ok and that you were able to take away a very powerful message. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Oh my, Tammy! I can't imagine what must have raced in your mind just with the call, much less seeing the car. Thank goodness they were not hurt any worse.
That will really put things in perspective, Tammy. This really doesn't ease my worries about my son being able to drive next year.
Tammy so glad you saw the kids before the car, oh boy! Now Abigail's thumb situation sounded pretty painful, is she ok now, any problems?
That's a pretty horrifying photo, Tammy. If I saw that, my heart would have raced. Sometimes people don't pay attention to the life-saving capabilities of their vehicles. I once rolled a jeep down a mountainside. Thank goodness I had a rollbar and was wearing my seatbelt. Some guy cut me off as I was passing, so the only way to avoid hitting him was to go down the mountain. Dumb choice on my part. But as it turned out, I wasn't hurt at all. Just banged up my knee a little on the radio under the dash.
Diane- me too. And thankfully the couple in the other car were both okay as well.
Rebecca- Actually it was a bigger car and while it also was totally it actually didn't look nearly as bad.
Sharon- Thanks and I am begining to feel more like myself. Part of me is lost, but I just keep moving forward.
Tony and Darcy- yes and I have her in a volvo since this accident. The government would not let me buy a shermon tank.
Russel- the car that hit her never saw her, ran a red light when she had a green left turn arrow, did it right in front of cop, never hit their brake... I feel lucky, but mostly I feel it's important to drive a car with excellent safety ratings.
Yvette and Dennis- For me the message was two fold- drive a safe car, wear your seat belt and make sure you tell those you love that you love them every time you are going to be apart. My conversations with my husband, children and parents always end with I love you.
Lee and Carol- when my phone rang that morning my first thought was what did she forget that day. Then I left the house with a sweat suit on top of my night gown with no shoes- I had to go back home and change before I went to the hospital. But my mom was with the children so I was okay to do that.
Heather- Just make sure he drives a car with a great safety rating. I was so proud of Abigail ... she had her license a year without even a fender bender. Then in the space of a month, she clipped a deer and knocked out her blinker and dented the fender and and then this. Thankfully no accidents in the past 4 years now either.
Cynthia- It ended her softball career, she doesn't have the range of motion, her first joint does not bend.... but she has her thumb and a tiny little scar. She does also have artritus in it, but that we can live with.
Cynthia T- Definately made me rethink what I was driving and made family more important than ever.
Elizabeth- It's made me a more careful driver and I think it made my daughter a better driver too. Glad you were okay when you rolled a jeep. I think you and my kids were lucky.
Tammy, That photo sent chills up my spine. I'm thankful your children were not hurt worse! I thought of you when I was in Branson, MO last week. We were walking along in Silver Dollar City and a group was singing "Unclouded Day" I had never heard the song before, but remember your post about an unclouded day. Hope you are doing well, friend!
Oh boy, thank the good lord that there was a relatively good outcome to this story - that is a scary shot.
... how is Colin doing these days ?
Hope you are all well :o)
Cheers Tam !
Sheldon
Mary- hadn't heard from you in a while. And I hope that my Grandmother was smiling at you from heaven when she knew you thought of me when you heard that song. I miss her, but I know she is better off now.
Sheldon- I thank him every day Sheldon. And as for Colin, we have a long road in front of us. We're just getting through it one day at a time.
you must have framed that pic as a reminder every day of your life - and your kids - wow - guardian angels everywhere!
Marie- me too. was quite the frightening day.
Liz- I do have it as part of my screen saver on my computer so I usually see it every day. Framing seems.. well. Maybe I'll have it framed for my daughter.
Holey Cow Tammy! That made my heart stop. Wake calls come in all shapes and sizes...I'm grateful yours had a good ending.
me too Kathleen, my children have always been the most important thing in my life and the reality is that you never know when it can end.
